How to Get Geodes in Abyss
When you’re fishing, you’ll play a mini-game where you need to keep a progress bar on the fish. Sometimes during this mini-game, a treasure chest icon will appear on the bar. This is your chance to get a geode.

You need to keep your cursor on that treasure chest for long enough. You’ll see an outline slowly forming around it. Once the outline is complete, you’ve unlocked the geode. However, you still need to finish catching the fish. If you fail to catch the fish, you lose the geode, too.
How to Open the Geodes
You actually can’t open Geodes by yourself. You need to find Virelia at the place where you spawn the first time in Forgotten Deep. She is the NPC who can help you crack open the geodes. Here’s the step-by-step process:
- Walk up to Virelia and press the interact button.
- Click “Yes (Open Artifacts)” when the menu pops up.
- Pick which geode you want to crack from your inventory and then press “Open.”
- Pay the cost and wait for the timer to finish.

Each Geode type costs different amounts of money and takes different amounts of time to crack. The better the Geode, the more expensive and time-consuming it usually is. You can speed up the timer, but you need to pay with Star Shards. When the cracking process is done, the Artifact that you get will automatically go to your inventory. You can always equip it whenever you want.

If you want to tackle harder content in Abyss, you need to invest time in getting Geodes. The RNG can be frustrating sometimes, but try to keep at it. When you finally get higher-tier Artifacts, you will be able to get more health, speed, damage, and anything that makes you survive longer underwater.
Now you know where to fish, how to catch the treasure chest during fishing, and where to crack your Geodes open. For more game mechanic tips, codes, and information, check out our Roblox Abyss wiki.
