Minimap is one of the most useful in-game items in Abyss. It will help you navigate the vast ocean, get your current location, find POIs, and more. You will not be able to buy the map during the starting phase. The item is located in another biome, and reaching it has its own challenges. With that said, this article provides a guide to getting the Minimap in Abyss and using it.
A Complete Guide to Getting the Minimap
You must do preparations before starting your journey to get the minimap in Abyss. Here are the details:
- Minimap costs $2,450. Catch and sell fish with mutations, complete a bunch of NPC and the Kraken quests in The Forgotten Dome.
- The minimap is located at Crazy Jeff’s shop. You must travel 240m deep in the Ancient Sands to reach the shop where you can buy the minimap. We recommend buying a Boat Tube or Zepline Tube. The Boat Tube costs $5,250 and has a max depth of 275m. The Zepline Tube costs $18,500 and has a max depth stat of 375m. You can purchase the former in the Ancient Sands and the latter from the Diver NPC after clearing five of his delivery quests.
- It is also possible to reach the minimap’s location with the Puffertfish Tube if you manage to get over 100 Oxygen.
After obtaining the required tools, follow the steps below to reach Crazy Jeff’s shop and purchase the minimap:
- Go to the tree on the right side of the Tubes’ shop in The Forgotten Dome.
- Enter the Forgotten Deep and travel straight, following the marker with three question marks.
- You will receive a notification at the top of your screen when you reach Ancient Sands.
- Go forward until you see a bridge-like structure. Descend to find the yellow down arrow sign.
- Go straight from the arrow sign and descend to around 238 meters.
- Turn right and find Crazy Jeff’s signboard.
- Enter through the entrance and go straight until you find Jeff NPC with his items.
- Approach the minimap that’s in front of Jeff’s table. Press the “E” key on your keyboard to open the Purchase prompt.
- Click the green “Yes” button to pay the required money and get the minimap.
If you use Pufferfish Tube, you will receive a Critical Depth warning message after descending over 180m. So, you must find the entrance quickly and enter the shop. You won’t need Oxygen or a Tube inside the shop’s area.
How to Use the Minimap
Minimap is an essential device that you will use often. After purchasing, equip it in one of the inventory’s hot bar slots. You can access the map quickly by pressing the number keys. Press the assigned number on your keyboard to open the minimap. Here are its features:
- You can zoom in up to 1,250%. Use the mouse’s scroll wheel to zoom in and zoom out.
- Press the Eye button in the bottom-left corner of the screen to view the yellow navigation arrow in your current location.
- You can find the Show Players text outside, at the bottom-left of the device. On its right side, you can see a button. With it, you can change who will be visible on the minimap. The available options are: Friends, Everyone, and No one.
- You can see various POIs on the minimap for the unlocked location. Open the minimap and easily travel to the desired POIs.
Note that the map will show information about the places you’ve travelled to and explored. For instance, you won’t be able to view the Spirit Roots if you haven’t travelled to the location. The unlocked area will be covered in black on the minimap.
