Star Shards are basically the most important thing you need in Abyss. You use them to reroll for races, and your race can completely change how strong you are in the game. The problem is that rolling for races is random, so you need a lot of Star Shards until you get something decent. In this guide, we are going to break down every method and tell you exactly how to get and use Star Shards in Abyss.

How to Get Star Shards in Abyss
Here are the tips to get Star Shards in the game:
1. Redeem Active Codes
The easiest way to get your first batch of Star Shards is through codes. Right now, there’s one working code that gives you a solid starting boost with 100 Star Shards: RELEASE. Here are the steps to redeem the code:
- Click on the Settings icon in the game menu.
- Scroll down until you see the code redemption box.
- Enter the code exactly as shown and click redeem to claim your rewards.

The RELEASE code gives you enough Star Shards for one free race reroll. This is perfect if you don’t like your starting race (which most of the time was the Poop Race).
2. Complete Achievements
Achievements are honestly one of the best ways to farm Star Shards once you’ve used all the codes. You can find them by clicking the ribbon icon on the top left side of your screen. Each achievement has multiple levels, which means you can keep earning more shards as you play.

3. Search for Treasure Chests
Treasure chests are scattered all around the Abyss map, and opening them gives you Star Shards plus some nice XP. Each chest you open can give you anywhere from 5 to 15 Star Shards. That might not sound like much, but there are a lot of chests around.

There are some in the spawn area and outside around the map. Chests respawn after some time, so you can come back later and open them again. This makes them a reliable way to farm Star Shards regularly. Watch out for puffer fish, though, when you’re swimming in the ocean looking for chests. They can actually kill you if you’re not careful.
3. Finish Quests from NPCs
Quests are another solid method for earning Star Shards. The Kraken is one of the main NPCs who gives out quests that reward you with shards. There are also other NPCs scattered around the map with their own quest chains. Most quests ask you to do simple tasks like reaching a certain level, catching specific fish, or exploring new areas. The rewards vary depending on the quest difficulty. Some give you a few shards, while bigger quests can give you way more.
4. Fill Out Your Bestiary
The Bestiary is basically a collection of all the fish you’ve caught in Abyss. Every time you catch a new type of fish, it gets added to your bestiary. When you fill out entries, you get rewards that include Star Shards.

You can check your bestiary progress by talking to Richard NPC in the Forgotten Dome. He’ll show you which fish you’ve caught and which ones you still need to find. The more fish you catch, the more Star Shards you’ll earn from bestiary rewards.
5. Random Chests While Fishing
Here’s something a lot of players don’t know about. When you’re fishing, there’s a small chance that a chest icon will appear on your fishing bar. If you can manage to catch both the fish and grab the chest icon at the same time, you’ll get bonus rewards that can include Star Shards.

6. Buy Star Shards with Robux
If you have Robux to spare and want to speed things up, there are Star Shard packages in the Exclusive Shop. You can open it up by clicking the shopping trolley icon on the top left side of your screen:

| Package | Price | Star Shards |

| Starter Pack | 79 Robux | – 1,000 Coins – 500 Star Shards – 2x Oxygen Shards – 2x Speed Potions |
| Diver’s Pack | 349 Robux | – 1,000 Star Shards – 5x Void Shards – 5x Oxygen Shards – 10x Speed Potions |

How to Use Star Shards in Abyss
Here are the things that you can do with your Star Shards:
1. Reroll Your Race
This is the main reason you want Star Shards. Races in Abyss are divided into different rarity levels, and they give you special abilities and bonuses. The higher the rarity, the harder it is to get. Each race reroll costs 100 Star Shards. When you spin, you have a chance to get:
- Common: Poop, Coral, and Elf
- Uncommon: Monkey, Cyclops, and Fish
- Rare: Puffer, Spirit, and Narwhal
- Epic: Crab and Anglerfish (guaranteed in 18 rerolls)
- Legendary: Vampire Squid and Shark (guaranteed in 48 rerolls)
- Mythical: Kraken and Sea Angel

If you don’t like your current race, just use your Star Shards to keep rerolling until you get something good. Some players spend hundreds of shards trying to get a mythical race, so don’t feel bad if it takes a while.
2. Unlock More Race Slots
By default, you only have one race slot. But you can use Star Shards to unlock additional slots so you can keep multiple races at once. You need 1,000 Star Shards to unlock the second slot and 5,000 Star Shards to unlock the third.

3. Speed Up Geode Cracking
When you collect geodes in Abyss, you need to take them to Virelia to crack them open. Geodes take time to open, but you can spend Star Shards to speed up the process instantly.

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend using your Star Shards on geodes. Save them for race rerolls instead because races make a bigger difference in your gameplay.
Star Shards in Abyss are the most valuable currency because they directly affect your character’s power through races. Thankfully, you have lots of ways to farm them, from codes, achievements, chests, quests, and the bestiary. Good luck with your spins, and I hope you pull a mythical race very soon, because the Poop race doesn’t really look that cool, does it?
