While the feature looks awesome and practical, it is obvious that it is going to drain your batteries much faster. There are some users who may wish to completely disable the backlight feature. Thankfully, you can adjust the backlight (or even completely disable it) on the new remote. Let's see how.
As the remote for both Pro and tube is the same, you can retrace the steps on both the devices without any problem. Grab the NVIDIA Shield TV remote and navigate to Settings, it is that gear symbol on the top right corner, next to the clock.
On the Settings page, Scroll down to General Settings and Press OK on Remote & Accessories.
Go to SHIELD accessories and look for the SHIELD remote under paired accessories. If you have connected multiple remotes to the SHIELD TV, you will see 'active' in brackets next to the remote you're using.
Press OK on Backlight Settings and you'll get all the options that you can configure for the new SHIELD TV remote.
You can adjust the sliders to change the brightness, and set the duration of the backlight. That's not all, you can also set the trigger to turn on the backlight when you either pick up the remote or press a button. It would really come in handy while watching movies at night. To turn on the triggers, toggle the switch next to 'On Button Press' and 'On remote pickup', this will turn on the backlight only when you either press a button or lift it up or shake it in your hands. pretty cool, right?
