MacBooks are one of the most powerful laptops you can buy these days. But their high prices have often kept them out of reach and pocket for the majority of users. However, this is soon set to change as Apple is working on a new, cheaper MacBook. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Apple’s Affordable Chromebook Competitor Will Use iPhone Chip
Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo has revealed that Apple is planning a new affordable Chromebook rival. The low-cost MacBook will undercut the Air by targeting a lower price.
But what will make this MacBook unique is the chipset underneath, as Apple is planning to use the same chip as the iPhone. This will be the A18 Pro, to be specific, making it the first MacBook to use a non M-series chip in recent years.
Furthermore, the affordable MacBook will have a screen size of 13 inches, the same as the Air. It will be available in Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow colors. This is in stark contrast to the industrial colors available on the current MacBook generation.

Since these chipsets also support Apple Intelligence, buyers won’t be missing out on anything. The upcoming A19 Pro will improve on these gains with better single-core performance.
But don’t get your hopes too high, as this low-cost MacBook will only release next year. The affordable MacBook will enter production in the fourth quarter of 2025.
It will be a monumental shift for Apple, known for making premium products. It could be prove to be a hotseller as MacBooks remain one of the top selling Apple products.
The company expects to ell around 25 million MacBook next year. Furthermore, the low cost MacBook could account for 5-7 million units alone.
By entering the budget space, Apple could attract a younger audience such as students looking for their first laptop. Currently, Chromebooks remain a dominant force in the segment due to their affordable price tag.
