AirPods 4 Will Have a Useful AirPods Pro 2 Feature

AirPods 4 are a pretty solid deal for the price, especially when compared to last gen AirPods 3 and 2. They are light, small, and less expensive, even the one with the ANC feature. The only problem is that they are easy to lose and difficult to find. AirPods Pro models come with a speaker that allows owners to find the missing case using Apple’s Find My network. Now that feature will be available on AirPods 4 models too.

The AirPods 4 comes in two flavors – AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC. The latter offers exactly what it says on the tin, or rather in the name – active noise cancellation. However, the new AirPods 4 models also feature a speaker which means it can make a beeping noise when you lose it.

The speaker is built into the case but isn’t exactly a new innovation. AirPods Pro models have had this feature since 2021. Other features that have closed the gap between regular and Pro models are spatial audio support, an H2 chip, and a USB-C charging case (finally!).

Once paired with your iPhone and Mac, you can use the Find My app to locate the AirPods 4 case on a map. You can also make the case make a beeping noise through the speakers, thus making it easier to locate it using audio cues.

To do that:

  1. Open the Find My app.
  2. Go to Devices tab.
  3. Select the AirPods you want to locate.
  4. Select Play Sound.

AirPods 4 models will begin selling on Friday, Sept. 20 next week. AirPods 4 will cost $129 while AirPods 4 with ANC will cost $179.

Here are some other important announcements from Apple’s Glowtime event on iPhone 16 which comes with a new Camera Control button, support for AAA gaming titles on base models, Apple Intelligence, and new A18 chips.
