As expected, DOOM: The Dark Ages has fast, brutal fights and some tough bosses to beat. If you want to get through without too much trouble, you’ll need to understand how each boss works. This guide covers all bosses in DOOM: The Dark Ages and gives you clear tips on how to beat them quickly.

All Champion Bosses in DOOM: The Dark Ages
Champion bosses are elite enemies with special golden armor that blocks most damage. To hurt them, you’ll need to aim for their weak spots. They also have stun phases like unique bosses, giving you a chance to deal big damage when timed right.
Champion Bosses | Details | How to Find |
---|---|---|
Vagary Champion | Wears tough gold armor that blocks most damage. It fires lots of projectiles and creates a slowing zone that makes you an easy target. | Chapter 4 |
Agaddon Champion | Uses a shield to get in close and hits hard with Hell Surge attacks. It can be dangerous if you’re not ready to react. | Chapter 8 |
Komodo Champion | A fast and aggressive boss. Dives in with melee combos, then backs off and shoots with its turret. | Chapter 14 |
1. Vagary Champion
To defeat the Vagary Champion, you’ll need to keep it stunned consistently. Focus on parrying the green projectiles it fires alongside the red ones, each successful parry fills the stun meter. Once stunned, move behind it, or close to it, and aim for its back and rear legs to deal damage. Be cautious of its powerful melee attacks, though. It’s best to keep your distance throughout the fight to avoid getting overwhelmed.

2. Agaddon Champion
To beat the Agaddon Champion, focus on good positioning and timing. Wait for a chance to parry and hit back. When it goes into a shield stance (which is pretty often), get close to make it switch to attacking, which gives you an opening to strike. Use this moment to parry his melee combo, but be patient. Timing is everything with Agaddon Champion. Once he is stunned, unload your attacks to deal massive damage.

3. Komodo Champion
The Komodo Champion is highly mobile and fires a relentless stream of projectiles, so make sure to stay on the move to avoid getting hit. It’s best to use ranged weapons with this boss and keep shooting as it dashes around the arena. Make sure to watch carefully for an opening to parry, and once he is stunned, rush in with a melee attack. It will give the boss heavy damage. Be careful, though, after its first horizontal attack, it will quickly follow up with a second slash. So always be ready to parry it. Keep targeting its head as it is the biggest weakness.

All Unique Bosses in DOOM: The Dark Ages
The unique bosses represent the ultimate challenges in DOOM: The Dark Ages, each with unique mechanics and more than one combat phase.
Unique Bosses | Details | How to Find |
---|---|---|
Kreed Maykr | A high-ranking Bishop who secretly works with Hell’s legions to stay in power. | Chapter 20 |
Cthulhu the Old One | This boss used to be a powerful god, but now the Old One is just a machine under Hell’s control. | Chapter 21 |
Enhanced Ahzrak | The real form of Hell’s prince. Has an ambition to defeat the Slayer for good. | Chapter 21 |
Ahzrak and Witch | A team-up between Hell and a strange force, trying to stop the Slayer and take over the world. | Chapter 22 |
1. Kreed Maykr
The best way to defeat Kreed Maykr is to keep a good distance between you and the boss at all times. When it unleashes those yellow waves, make sure to carefully avoid them while continuing to shoot him again and again, without giving him a chance to recover.

Whenever Kreed Maykr summons his minions, your priority should be to destroy those minions first. Also, make sure to keep a close eye on his Halo, because when it starts glowing green, that is the only time you will have a chance to parry his attack. Once the fight enters the second phase, try to keep the same strategy. However, be prepared for him to move faster, so your timing and reaction will need to be quicker than in the first phase.
2. Cthulhu the Old One
To defeat the Old One, you need to keep punching this boss nonstop and use your ground attack whenever you can. Make sure to also dodge his basic attacks with good timing to avoid getting hit. At around 50% health, he will start floating and summoning tentacles. To survive, try to stay out of the circles on the ground. When his health drops even more, he will change into a stronger purple form and become immune to damage. He’ll start charging a big AoE attack that pulls you in. Just focus on dodging away fast before he finishes it.

3. Enhanced Ahzrak
The first phase is simple. Ahzrak mainly uses a melee combo. Focus on parrying each strike and counterattacking. Red Spirits will spawn in this phase, so try to shoot them to gain extra armor and health. In the second phase, he summons pillars around the arena. Use your shield throw to break them quickly while it’s safe. He also adds a jumping attack, which you can parry like his other moves. To deal more damage, shoot him right after each parry.

The last phase is tougher. He’ll summon Red Spirits all around you. Watch for the ones that turn green. Those spirits will attack directly at you directly, and you need to parry each of them. After that, a red circle appears in the center. If you see this, get out fast to avoid damage. Moreover, he’ll also launch waves of blades. Keep moving, parry the green ones, and you’ll make it through.
4. Ahzrak and Witch
In this fight, attack the one without the shield bubble first. When fighting Ahzrak, focus on parrying with good timing. Against the Witch, keep moving, dodge often, and shoot her from a distance. When both enemies become shielded in the center of the arena, get ready for a massive barrage of projectiles. You can either block them with your shield or jump over the waves to avoid taking damage. After the barrage ends, return to the same tactics, parry Ahzrak’s attacks, and dodge while firing at the Witch, until you successfully kill the Witch.

The final phase is a rematch with Ahzrak, and it works mostly like before. He’ll keep using his melee combo, so parry and counter when you can. At low health, he puts up a shield and fires off a bunch of projectiles. He also adds a new jump attack that creates two shockwaves that can be parried if you time it right.
Now you’re ready to beat all the bosses in DOOM: The Dark Ages using these solid strategies. Focus on timing your parries, hitting weak spots, and staying in the right position. Stick to these tips, and you’ll make it through even the hardest fights Hell throws at you.
