When you start playing Elden Ring Nightreign, you get to pick from eight different heroes called Nightfarers. Each one plays totally differently, so picking the right one matters a lot. Let me walk you through all classes in Elden Ring Nightreign and help you figure out which Nightfarer fits your playstyle best.

All Classes in Elden Ring Nightreign and Their Abilities

Unlike regular Elden Ring, where you build your own character, Nightreign gives you ready-made heroes with set abilities. You can’t mess with their main stats or core skills, but don’t worry. Any Nightfarer can pick up and use any weapon they find, so you’re not stuck with just one way to play.

Every Nightfarer has three special moves: a passive ability that’s always active, one regular skill you can use regularly, and one ultimate ability that takes a longer time to charge but is very powerful. Now let’s check out all classes in Elden Ring Nightreign!

1. Guardian

Guardian is the classic tank character, but he’s also a giant eagle-person wearing heavy armor. If you like soaking up damage and protecting your team, this is your guy. Guardian starts with a weapon and a great shield. His crowd control abilities make him amazing against groups of enemies, and his ultimate can also instantly revive fallen allies.

Ability TypeNameDescription
PassiveSteel GuardWhen you dodge an attack while blocking with your shield, you will get super strong defense, but move more slowly.
SkillWhirlwindCreates a tornado using its wings that can lift enemies and block arrows.
UltimateWings of SalvationFlies up and crashes down to revive allies and create a protective shield.

2. Raider

Raider is like an angry sailor who refuses to go down. He is built for players who want to trade blows and come out on top. The tombstone he is using is clever, letting your archer friends climb it and snipe from above while you fight below.

Ability TypeNameDescription
PassiveFighter’s ResolveRaider can’t be knocked down during his special attack and stays alive with 1 HP.
SkillRetaliateOffers a huge punch that makes even giant enemies stumble. It also reduces incoming damage.
UltimateTotem StelaSummons a massive tombstone that can be climbed by allies.

3. Duchess

Duchess is all about being fast and hitting really hard, really quickly. She seems like a character who is a little bit tough to learn, but amazing once you figure her out.

Ability TypeNameDescription
PassiveMagnificent PoiseCan dodge twice in a row without using much stamina.
SkillRestageMakes enemies take all the damage they just took again.
UltimateFinaleMakes your whole team invisible for about 8 seconds.

4. Recluse

Recluse uses magic spells and has the lowest health, but can hit enemies with massive damage from really far away. You can cast spells with Recluse, pick up the leftover magic bits, then use those to cast even bigger spells.

Ability TypeNameDescription
PassiveElemental DefenseCollects magic residue from enemies to refill her mana.
SkillMagic CocktailCombines three elemental residues to cast powerful spells.
UltimateSoulblood SongGives marks to enemies, so your team heals when attacking them.

5. Wylder

Wilder is the perfect class to choose if you are new to the game or can’t decide what you want to play. He’s got a bit of everything and doesn’t excel or fail at anything specific. The grappling hook is super useful for getting around the map quickly or pulling tough enemies away from your teammates.

Ability TypeNameDescription
PassiveSixth SenseCheat death a single time.
SkillClaw ShotGrappling hook that pulls enemies to you or pulls you to them.
UltimateOnslaught TakePowerful attack that fires an explosive iron stake that deals massive damage.

6. Ironeye

Ironeye is all about using bows and arrows. The marking skill looks great for teamwork. You mark a boss, then your friends who fight up close can focus on that weak spot to knock the boss down more easily.

Ability TypeNameDescription
PassiveEagle EyeEveryone on your team finds more items when they kill enemies.
SkillMarkingMakes weak spots on enemies by cutting them with a dagger, so that anyone can hit for extra damage.
UltimateSingle ShotFire a super-fast arrow that goes through everything.

7. Executor

We don’t know much about Executor yet, but they use a very long sword that looks like a katana, and seem to be all about perfect blocks and counterattacks. In the gameplay video, their movement looks like a samurai (but with full gold/bronze shield armor). Their sword glows with gold light when they block perfectly, which probably means they get stronger when they play well.

8. Revenant

For now, Revenant is the biggest mystery in Elden Ring Nightreign. She has a harp and a big curved scythe. From what the developers said, she can summon ghost helpers to fight with your team. This could make her really strong since she’d basically give your team extra fighters in every battle.

Picking Your First Character in Elden Ring Nightreign

If you’re new to these games, go with Wylder. He’s balanced and has that safety feature that keeps you from dying right away, so you can learn without getting frustrated. If you’ve played these games before, Duchess looks like she is the hardest character to master, but she can do the most damage with her doubling trick. Guardian is perfect if you want to protect your team.

Recluse and Ironeye are good for people who like staying back and helping from far away, but you need to be good at staying alive since they’re pretty fragile. The best part about Nightreign is that you can try different characters every time you play. Since games don’t last as long as a full Elden Ring playthrough, you’ll get lots of chances to try everyone and find your favorite.
