All Mobs in Dead Rails
Normal Zombie
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 15 |
Zombies make up the majority of enemies you’ll encounter during your travels. While individual zombies aren’t particularly threatening, they can quickly become deadly in large groups.
How to Deal With Them: Normal zombies are slow and weak, making them the easiest enemies to handle. Any weapon can take them down, but ranged weapons are preferred to avoid taking damage. If you only have melee weapons, time your attacks carefully while walking backward to avoid getting hit. Remember that you can hit zombies through walls, which is a great way to eliminate them without risk.
Runner Zombie
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 25 |
How to Deal With Them: These fast zombies can catch up to you if you’re on foot! Always keep your horse close when you go into buildings. If you hear them coming, get to high ground or jump on your horse. In small spaces, try to get them to come through doorways one at a time so you can shoot them with a shotgun.
Banker Zombie
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 16 |
How to Deal With Them: These zombies wear fancy suits and top hats. They’re special because they drop bank codes when you kill them. These codes let you open banks in towns to get money and items.
Dynamite Zombie
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | Varies based on proximity |
Walk Speed | 25 |
How to Deal With Them: These zombies carry bombs! Kill them from far away before they can reach you. A rifle is perfect for this. Be extra careful in small spaces like inside buildings, where their bombs can easily kill you.
Sheriff Zombie
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | ~20 |
Walk Speed | 16 |
How to Deal With Them: These zombies carry guns just like outlaws do. They’re not great shots, but they can still hurt you if they hit. Stay far away and use your own guns to take them out. Try to get behind cover when fighting them so they can’t shoot you.
Zombie Soldier
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | Varies based on weapon |
Walk Speed | 25 |
How to Deal With Them: You’ll only find these zombies at Fort Constitution. They carry guns or swords and move as fast as runner zombies. Stay far away and use guns to kill them before they get close. A shot to the head with a rifle will kill them right away.
Captain Prescott
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 25 |
Walk Speed | 16 |
Sell Value | $150 |
How to Deal With Them: Captain Prescott is at Fort Constitution with his zombie soldiers. He’s no tougher than other zombies, but he’s worth a lot of money! When you kill him, he drops a key that opens the fort’s supply room. You can also take his body to the Sheriff’s office for $150. Just like with other zombies, a headshot from a rifle will kill him instantly.
Lab Zombie
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 25 |
How to Deal With Them: These zombies only show up in the Tesla Lab when you try to rebuild Nikola Tesla. They wear lab coats and move as fast as runner zombies. Deal with them the same way you would with runner zombies – use guns and keep your distance.
Outlaw
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 30-100 (depends on gun) |
Walk Speed | 30 (on horseback), 6 (on foot) |
Sell Value | $35 |
How to Deal With Them: Outlaws are living humans with guns. They can hurt you a lot. The safest way to fight them is to shoot them from far away with a rifle – a headshot will kill them right away. When outlaws are on horses, you can drive your train and get them to bunch up behind you, then shoot back at them
Vampire
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 150 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 16 |
Sell Value | $15 |
How to Deal With Them: Vampires have more health than zombies and can teleport right next to you when you least expect it! Vampires spawn mainly during Blood Moons and around the Castle area. When fighting them, keep moving instead of staying in one position. Always keep your horse within reach as an escape option.
Werewolf
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 500 |
Damage | 40 |
Walk Speed | 25 |
Sell Value | $20 |
How to Deal With Them: Werewolves present a major threat with their 500 health points – five times that of standard enemies. They appear primarily during Full Moon events, throughout the Castle location, and sometimes within regular wolf groups. Their combination of high damage output and fast movement speed makes them lethal in close quarters. The recommended strategy is to engage from maximum range using rifles for precision headshots. Mounting a horse gives you the mobility advantage needed to maintain safe distance.
Skeleton
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 16 |
How to Deal With Them: Sterling mines are the only location where you’ll encounter skeletons. Their health and damage output match those of standard zombies, but the environment makes them particularly challenging. The narrow tunnels of the mines limit your movement options and escape routes.
Wolf
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | 15 |
Walk Speed | 20 |
How to Deal With Them: Wolf encounters occur primarily in the desert regions where packs of 2-5 patrol together. Their threat level ranks as moderate – their speed exceeds basic zombies but falls short of runner variants and werewolves. Wolves are smaller and move around a lot, so they can be harder to shoot than zombies.
A cool trick: if you drop a dead body near it, you can tame a wolf and will help you by attacking other enemies. This can be really helpful when you’re fighting lots of enemies at once.
Horse
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 100 |
Damage | Passive |
Walk Speed | 30 |
How to Use Them: Horses are found all over the map in groups of 3-8. Wild horses will run away from you, but they can be tamed with a Saddle. Tamed horses are incredibly valuable as they allow you to move much faster than on foot and can outrun all enemies.
Nikola Tesla
![]() | Stat |
---|---|
Health | 5000 |
Damage | 100 |
Walk Speed | 25 |
Sell Value | $300 |
How to Deal With Him: The endgame boss Nikola Tesla becomes available through a specific sequence at Tesla Lab. Players must first reconstruct his remains and then defend against waves of Lab Zombies during the resurrection process. Once awakened, Tesla won’t appear immediately – he joins the final confrontation at Outlaw Town.
His 5000 health points make him extraordinarily durable compared to standard enemies. His attack power can eliminate players in just a few hits, while his movement speed matches that of runner zombies. Tesla’s head serves as his critical weak point, where damage is multiplied. Solo attempts against Tesla rarely succeed. So we recommend you to take on him in a team.
Dead Rails may be dangerous, but with this knowledge of your enemies and the right strategies, you’ll be well on your way to survive!
