Amazon Echo Spot (2024) has bigger speaker, no camera

Amazon unveils the new Echo Spot (2024) a week before Prime Day 2024, scheduled for July 16 and 17. This new version of the smart alarm clock has a handful of design changes compared to its predecessor models. The company has finally removed the camera component from the Echo Spot design, which is a good call.

Everyone would love a smart alarm clock, but most people don’t like their smart alarm clock watching them while they sleep. Apart from that, you can’t use it as a camera in the bedroom to monitor any suspicious activity. The same was the gripe with the Echo Spot model, and Amazon quietly fixed it. The new Echo Spot (2024) model arrives with a neat design refresh and a bigger speaker. Expect it to eke out your favorite song or tunes to wake you up.

At the same time, the circular 2.83-inch display was halved and appeared as a semi-circular touchscreen. You can enjoy the tap-based playback and other interface controls. The display offers a number of animations for different elements, and you can set the clockface in various colors.

But you can’t do video calling since it no longer features a camera. The other half shows a speaker grill since you’d primarily interact using voice with Echo Spot (2024). Besides that, it also acts as a smart home control hub to manage the Matter-platform smart devices.

Amazon’s new Echo Spot (2024) is available in white, black, and blue. Though it costs $79.99, you can immediately buy it for $44.99 after a flat $35 discount for Prime Members only from the Amazon website.
