Amazon’s Prime Day sale will go live from July 8 this year, which makes it the perfect time to buy a MacBook, especially M4 Pro model. This makes it the perfect time to upgrade or purchase a new MacBook. That being said, Apple is planning to unveil a new M5 MacBook Pro later this year, so should you wait or purchase a new MacBook right away? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is It Worth Buying the M4 MacBook Pro On Amazon Prime Day?
The M4 MacBook Pro is currently the best MacBook you can get right now. Powered by Apple’s top-of-the-line chip, it’s perfect for all your productivity needs.
You can configure it with up to 36GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, which is more than enough performance you will ever need. Furthermore, the 16-core Neural Engine is capable of handling all your AI needs, whether it’s upscaling videos or generating captions.

And as always, nothing can beat a MacBook when it comes to battery life. With more than 24 hours of battery backup and all the Apple Intelligence features, it gives you the best of Apple’s silicon in a portable form factor.
At its current price of $1429, it’s a bit on the premium side, especially for a 14-inch MacBook. However, during the Amazon Prime Day sale, you can expect it to be around $1300, and even lower with offers.
But should you pull the trigger on a M4 MacBook Pro, especially at a time when Apple is planning a refresh? Well, the answer isn’t as easy as you would expect
Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro is likely to be an incremental upgrade with a new M5 chip. This new M5 chip will use SoIC-MH packaging by TSMC, which integrates different chips into a single package.
Furthermore, the new chipset will have 2.5D packaging, resulting in better thermal performance. It will be built on TSMC’s 3nm process
However, don’t expect these new MacBooks to drop anytime soon, as Mark Gurman has predicted October to December. The performance uplift is likely to be modest, and unlike the M4 models, which will be on discount, you will need to buy the M5 at its retail price.
Apart from upgraded internals, don’t expect any major redesign, as most of the specs are likely to be the same. This means you can expect the 16GB of RAM in the base mode, apart from the 14-inch and 16-inch variants, as usual.
Apple is saving major upgrades for the 2026 MacBook Pro, which will bring the M6 chipset. Furthermore, the next MacBook will use an OLED display.
M4 Is A Better Deal Unless You Want The Latest Chip
So if you want to purchase a MacBook Pro right now, then going for M4 Pro during Amazon Prime Day makes sense. You not only save money but also get a similarly performing device right away. On the other hand, if you want a device with upgrades, then it’s worth waiting till 2026 to get the M6 MacBook Pro.
The M5 MacBook Pro is only worth waiting for if you are ready to pay full price and want the best possible performance out there. Otherwise, the M4 should serve most of the needs even on the base model.
