Apple Could Launch Its Updated Macbook Air With M4 Later This Week

Apple’s cheapest MacBook Air could soon get the much-awaited M4 upgrade. Currently, it is the only MacBook in the company’s lineup to still rely on the M3 chipset. However. this could soon change as the company plans to refresh the Air later this week. Here’s what you can expect from the MacBook Air M4 launch later this week.

Macbook Air M4 to Launch Later This Week

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the MacBook Air will get a new M4 chipset. Currently, the MacBook Air is available in both M2 and M3 variants. Furthermore, an upgrade means that you can expect the same specifications of the MacBook Air as the M4 MacBook Pro.

This means you can expect a 10-core GPU and 32GB of RAM with 120GB/s memory bandwidth. Furthermore, there will be a 12-megapixel front camera with center stage for video calls. It will be a major upgrade over the 8-core CPU which has 24GB of RAM and 100GB/s memory bandwidth.

A report by 9to5Mac also states the M4 MacBook Air could launch with nanotexture coating as an option apart from increased battery backup. The M3 model is likely to get replaced by the new M4 one while Apple could continue selling M2 ones. The pricing is likely to remain the same as only the new processor would be the major update.

iPad Refresh Coming Soon and Siri Will Get Smarter With iOS 19

Gurman claims that the iPad Air could also see a refresh although the launch is not as imminent as the MacBook Air. Similarly, the Cupertino giant could refresh the entry-level iPad which is likely to launch at the same time. Gurman also states that the iPad Pro is unlikely to get any.

Rumor mills have been suggesting that Apple working on its own LLM (large language model) for some time now to catch up with Googe’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The LLM-powered Siri is likely to arrive in the iOS 19.4 update in Spring 2026. Siri will have a more conversational tone and will be released next year. We can expect more details about them at WWDC in June.
