  • Apple is planning on bringing a revamped version of its Shortcut app.
  • It will let users create actions like launching certain features within apps.
  • You will be able to create actions using Apple Intelligence models.

Apple’s major WWDC event is just around the corner, happening next week. And this time, Apple is going all-in on AI. Hopefully, they deliver the features this time, unlike last year’s LLM Siri hype that didn’t really come out. Chances are that one of the highlights of this year’s event will be the new Shortcuts app powered by Apple Intelligence. Here’s what you need to know about the new revamped Shortcuts app:

The Shortcuts app is one of the most powerful utility apps in iOS. It allows you to combine multiple actions from different apps into a single shortcut. These can then be triggered with a tap or even a voice command using Siri.

According to a recent report on Bloomberg, Apple is expected to announce the integration of Apple Intelligence into the Shortcuts app. And if done right, this could take your iPhone’s automation to the next level.

What’s New with Apple Shortcuts App?

Currently, the Shortcuts app lets you automate tasks like open specific app features based on time, date, location, and other specific conditions you mention. But with the upcoming Apple Intelligence integration, things will be a lot smarter.

Instead of manually creating every action, users will be able to create shortcuts just by describing them in plain language, using Apple Intelligence. Here’s what you will be able to do with the revamped version of the Shortcuts app:

  • You can create shortcuts using natural language (no need to tap and set every action manually).
  • AI will suggest smart actions based on your usage patterns.
  • More powerful app control using Apple’s on-device intelligence.
  • Deeper automation across system settings, third-party apps, and more.

Imagine this: You’re heading to the gym. Instead of setting up a bunch of actions manually, you just say,
“Make a shortcut for when I plug in my AirPods at 7 AM, start my gym playlist, open my fitness tracker, and turn on Do Not Disturb.”

And that’s it! Apple Intelligence builds it for you. Apple is trying to make automation easily accessible to everyone. However, older iPhone models that do not support Apple Intelligence are likely to miss out on this feature.

More Announcements Incoming (Hopefully)

Apart from the Shortcuts app, Apple is also expected to announce some other big stuff at WWDC—like the redesigned macOS 26 (with a fresh new name), a new iOS version name, the much-awaited LLM-powered Siri, and a lot more.

But… don’t get your hopes too high just yet. There’s a chance Apple might push some of these features to 2026 (including the Shortcuts app). Maybe they’re playing it safe this time after what happened the last time they hyped up LLM Siri, and it didn’t really go anywhere. So yeah, fingers crossed.
