A lot of companies are experimenting with metronome apps. For those who do not know, it’s a device that makes click sounds in specific intervals which helps musicians stay in rhythm. Soundbrenner Pulse is one such experiment that is unique and provides real-time vibration. Since I already have an Apple Watch, it didn’t make sense to have another device on my wrist. If you have one as well, here are some cool Apple Watch metronome apps you can try!

Apple Watch Metronome Apps

1. haptik – Watch Metronome

This is one of the few apps which make use of haptic feedback. The tempo is displayed on the watch face with various options and animations. If you have prior rhythm knowledge, you can simply tap on screen to set the tempo. The best part about the app is that the metronome feedback doesn’t stop even if you rotate or twist your arm.

The app has a Link & Play Together option which allows multiple users to connect with the same metronome settings using Bluetooth. Since it has a very minimal interface, you do not have the option to change beats, tweak the intensity of the feedback, etc.

2. Click Metronome

Whether you are near your iPhone or in another room plucking the guitar, this app will allow you to stay in rhythm both with haptic feedback and audio. Similar to the first app, you get the tap tempo feature which is again a plus point. Click Metronome is free which is great, however, the metronome does go off when the screen times out.

If you prefer keeping your phone with you while scribbling new music, you have the freedom to use the remote control feature and control the metronome playback from the watch. Lastly, you can also change the tempo using the watch, which comes in handy while making a quick tempo change.

3. Metronome: Tempo Lite

Featured as one of the staff favorites by Apple, this one is a toned-down version of the premium app. If you’re using it on the Apple Watch, you’re not likely to notice any difference. Tempo Lite has all the basic metronome features under the hood. You have the playback button and the tempo display on the screen. The latter option also allows you to increase or decrease the tempo.

Known Issues With Metronome Apps on Apple

While most of the apps listed here work even when you twist and turn your wrist, not all of them are likely to be perfect when the watch face times out. This is a very common issue faced by many metronome app users resulting due to app restrictions by Apple. You can try changing the orientation settings or wake settings which might solve the issue in some cases.

Which Metronome to Choose for Apple Watch

Well, I can’t think of any better way to maintain rhythm now that app development can do so much with the Apple Watch. If you ask me, I would highly recommend Haptik for its minimal interface which also has a hint of animation. All these apps will do the job, however, I still suggest using them to get used to the vibration with each beat.
