Damn Fine Gear side quest in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced becomes available after you complete This Old Cove, the Sequence 4 main mission, where Edward Kenway takes over the Great Inagua manor. During that mission, James Kidd walks you through the house, and you both come across a gated room with five locks on it, plus a very tempting outfit locked inside, wrapped around a skeleton.

Kenway uses a Templar key he took from the manor's previous owner, Julien du Casse, to unlock one of the five locks right then and there. But that still leaves four more. Once the main mission wraps up, the Damn Fine Gear side quest appears in your Quest Log, and the hunt for the remaining keys begins.

The whole Damn Fine Gear quest in AC Black Flag Resynced comes down to one thing: finding all four remaining Templar Keys. You get them by completing all four Templar Hunt side quests, which are also unlocked after This Old Cove. Each Templar Hunt is its own mini questline that ends with you tracking down a Templar and getting their key.

Each of these questlines is spread across different locations on the map in Black Flag Resynced, so expect to do some sailing with your Jackdaw, or you can also use fast travel if you've unlocked it in the later phase. None of them is especially long on their own, but doing all four takes some time. But the Damn Fine Gear reward is worth it all.

There's no required order for the Templar Hunts, so you can tackle them however you like. A good approach is to work through whichever one is closest to where you're already sailing to avoid too much backtracking.

How to Unlock the Gate in the Manor

Once all four Templar Keys are in your hands, head back to Great Inagua and return to the locked gate inside the manor. With all five keys collected (including the one Kenway already used from du Casse), the gate opens, the side quest is completed, and you can claim everything inside.

This is the good part. Opening the gate gives you four separate rewards all at once:

The real prize here for actual gameplay is the Templar Cross trinket. Trinkets in Black Flag Resynced are equippable items that give you passive bonuses during combat and exploration. The Templar Cross specifically reduces the damage you take from enemy melee attacks, which makes a difference when you're in the middle of a brawl.

The 10,000 Reales is also a solid bonus. If you're working through the Former Glories side quest at the same time and trying to fund your hideout upgrades, this injection of money helps more than you'd think.

Damn Fine Gear is one of the easier side quests in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced to overlook because it's tied to the Templar Hunts rather than having its own set of map markers to chase.
