Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Data Files

Assassin's Creed games are always packed with things to collect, and not all of them are about gear or gold. In Black Flag Resynced, Data Files are the quiet ones that a lot of people miss. They don't upgrade your ship or unlock a new weapon, so it's easy to sail right past them without noticing. But if you are the type who wants the full picture of what's happening behind the pirate story, these are the collectibles to get. Here's everything I've tracked down so far.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Data Files

Data Files are written logs tucked into every major region of the map. What they do is fill in the modern-day story that runs underneath the pirate adventure, the same layer that a lot of players found slow in the original 2013 release.

If you want to find them, try to locate the horizontal zigzag icon on the map. They are where the Data Files are located.

This region holds four of the sixteen data files, and it's also home to the trickiest one on the whole list.

1. Cape Bonavista (160, 585)

You can't collect this during the tutorial because the path is blocked. You have to wait until you unlock the Jackdaw fast travel, then return to the southern Viewpoint in Cape Bonavista.

Head east to the tutorial camp and find the climbable platforms beside a few dead bodies. Climb up, follow the only path, and enter the open area with waterfalls and stone pillars. Turn right, and you'll find the data file between the rocks.

2. Florida

Head to the center of the island, climb the fallen palm tree, and jump across to the wrecked ship until you reach the bow. The Data File is waiting right at the peak.

3. Havana (223, 567)

Head to the southeast side of Havana's port, all the way to the end. You'll spot a Spanish soldier asleep on the edge of the dock. The data file sits right behind him. This is a restricted zone with several soldiers patrolling, so don't just walk in; be very careful.

4. Salt Key Bank (469, 605)

This one's the easiest in the region. It sits on the porch of one of the houses on Salt Key Bank. Just follow your compass marker, and you'll walk right up to it, no climbing or sneaking required.

Three data files sit in this region, and each one asks for a slightly different kind of climb.

5. Corozal (5, 242)

Climb to the top of one of the huts near the beach. There are several beams sticking out, so look for the one with flowers wrapped around it. Climb the smaller beam right next to that one, and you'll land on the roof facing the beach, where the data file is waiting.

6. Santanillas (191, 217)

Walk along the beach side of Santanillas until you spot a rock pillar you can climb. It connects to a tree branch, so keep climbing until you reach a small rock formation. The data file sits behind a cluster of palm trees right there.

7. Tulum (34, 391)

Head to the north side of the temple in Tulum, where you'll see groups of people sparring. Climb the entrance wall, and the data file is sitting right on top of it.

8. Isla Providencia (485, 13)

Look for the shipwreck on the beach and climb up to the bow. The data file sits right on the edge.

9. New Bone (403, 90)

Find the house in the British soldier area and climb it using the wall where a clay pot hangs. Once you reach the roof, the data file is right there.

10. Kingston (618, 168)

Head to the west side of Kingston Church and climb the wall. On the roof, you'll spot a cross-shaped statue. The data file sits just above it.

11. Mystery Island (914, 124)

Head to the eastern side of the island until you find a broken wooden bridge. Walk it to the end and jump across to the rocky outcrop on the other side. The data file is sitting there.

12. Port Royal (598, 128)

Go to the southern part of Port Royal and climb the fort wall. You'll find the data file on top of it.

13. Long Bay (501, 217)

This is one of the harder climbs on the list. You'll need to scale a tall stone wall, and the data file sits on the edge of a platform near the top. Take it slow, since a fall from up there sends you all the way back down.

14. Petite Caverne (864, 236)

Head to the eastern side of the island and find a cave with a waterfall running through it, surrounded by stalagmites. Go behind the main waterfall to find a smaller one hidden further in. Cross the wooden stairs near it, and the data file is tucked underneath, next to a small chair and a round table with a beer mug on top.

This is easily the most atmospheric spot on the whole list. It feels like a little hideout someone actually lived in.

15. Pinos Isle (304, 448)

Head to the eastern side of the isle, where you'll spot a tent set up next to a campfire. The data file sits right behind the tent.

Black Flag Resynced Data Files in Gibara Region

16. Great Inagua (826, 446)

This is the easiest data file to find in the entire game. It's inside your own manor. Just climb to the roof and it's sitting right there waiting for you.

Those are all the locations where you can find the Data Files in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. If you're strictly here for ship battles and swordplay, none of this affects your progress. So skipping them is fine. But if you want a full completion, then take a detour for them.
