Good news! Atomic Heart 2 is finally happening. After the first game sold over 10 million copies, developer Mundfish announced the sequel at Summer Game Fest 2025. If you loved the robot-fighting action of the original, you’re in for a treat with this new adventure, because it looks pretty cool!

Atomic Heart 2 Coming 2026

Atomic Heart 2 takes you back to that weird alternate world where robots have gone crazy and society is falling apart. Yes, tou’re going back there, but this time, it’s not just one country. The story goes global and you will visit different locations around the world as you try to stop humanity from completely collapsing.

The game still has that retro-future look from the 1950s mixed with high-tech stuff. Now you get to see what’s happening everywhere else, too. Watch the trailer below:

New Combat Changes, Story, and Characters

The biggest change in Atomic Heart 2 is how you fight. Now you can use both hands at the same time. Your left hand can do special glove tricks while your right hand shoots guns or swings weapons. For example, you might shoot an enemy with your right hand while using telekinetic powers with your left hand. This new combat feature makes fights way more fun than just pointing and shooting.

The RPG stuff also got way better. You’ll find a lot of new side quests and mini-games all over the place. The game doesn’t force you down one path anymore and now it lets you play how you want.

Your favorite people from the first game are back, plus some new faces. The story picks up after the first game ended, so you know the world is still falling apart, but now it got worse. Robots are still causing trouble, and you need to save everyone before it’s too late.

Atomic Heart 2 Release Date and Platform Availability

While the exact date hasn’t been revealed yet, the game is officially going to be released in 2026. That’s when Atomic Heart 2 comes out on PC and consoles (though it’s not announced which consoles are going to be available for the game). You can even put it on your Steam wishlist right now.

If you liked the first game, this sequel fixes the stuff that didn’t work so well. The world is bigger, the fighting is better, and you have more freedom to play in its world. The developers looked at games like BioShock and Cyberpunk 2077 for ideas. So you’re getting shooting, exploring, and a good story all mixed together!
