Some time ago, I shared some ChatGPT games with you. For example, board games, math games, and more. However, there are little-known free and fun AI games that you will find on small sites run by indie developers. Some teach you prompt engineering, logical thinking, and reasoning while others are just so much fun. These are browser games so no downloads are required either.
Quick note: We’re not discussing games you can play on ChatGPT (we’ve covered that in another article). The games in this list have their own dedicated websites, each with interfaces specifically designed for the gaming experience. Let’s dive in!
Table of Contents
1. What beats Rock
This game is like the classic Rock, Paper, Scissors but with an AI twist. It starts by asking, “What beats Rock?” You can type Paper, but you can also get creative and say anything that could logically beat it, like Hammer. Then, the game continues by asking, “What beats Hammer?” You might respond with something like Fire, and it keeps going from there—Rock < Hammer < Fire < Wind < Wall < Nuke < Asteroid, and so on.
The AI evaluates whether your response is more creative and fits meaning you can give any answer, from God to Willpower, creating endless possibilities for the game. You will love this AI game for the absurd and unpredictable outcomes like “mental illness beats Gundam” or “a dead dog beats John Wick.”
However, you can’t keep escalating the power level too quickly, because you’ll eventually need to find something to beat it later. The longer you continue without repeating answers or using tricks like saying “2 nukes beat 1 nuke,” you will not lose and continue the game increasing your score.
2. Human or Not 2
In this AI game, you enter a chatroom but you don’t know if you are chatting with a human or an AI. The chat will last for 2 minutes. You aim to determine whether you are interacting with a real human or an AI chatbot.
The real test is how well you can distinguish between real people and increasingly convincing AI-powered chatbots. I tried asking, “Are you human or AI?” directly in the chat box, however, both humans and AI are capable liars.
The humans you interact with in the game are random strangers just like you who are also playing the same game. They are also trying to figure out if you are a human or an AI keeping the game interesting and engaging. On the other hand, AI has been trained to send small messages, use short forms, and even make spelling mistakes to mimic humans.
3. Riddle Me This
Riddle Me This is an image-generating game. You will be presented with an AI-generated image, and your task is to write or engineer a prompt that can generate a similar image. To get an accurate match, you must describe all the objects in the image, their placement, colors, background, etc. in good detail.
The game helps you to get better at prompt engineering to generate desired images. Unless your generated image is 50% similar, you cannot move on to the next image. The difficulty level of the image increases as you move forward in the game. After cleaning the initial test, you can also choose images based on categories.
The game is currently in beta and completely free, though the developers have mentioned that there will be a paid plan in the future.
4. Are You Smarter Than ChatGPT
This is an AI quiz game, where you’re given multiple-choice questions with two options. One is the correct answer, while the other is an AI-generated wrong answer but one that looks convincing. Your goal is to outsmart the AI and pick the correct answer. Most questions revolve around completing famous quotes, rather than typical quiz-style questions.
Initially, I thought it would be easy, but if you’re unfamiliar with the official quote, the AI-generated option often feels more authentic, making the game hard but interesting.

5. AI Dungeon
AI Dungeon is an interactive storytelling game powered by AI, similar to a virtual Dungeons & Dragons experience but with an AI acting as the game master. You can take on any role, choose your own path, and make decisions that shape the story. The AI generates the narrative based on your input.
AI Dungeon offers various modes, including fantasy, sci-fi, and even custom scenarios, allowing you to tailor your adventure to your preferences.
6. Noctie AI
Noctie is an AI-based chess app designed to test and improve your chess skills. After your first test game, it pretty accurately estimates your FIDE rating and provides personalized tutorials and tasks based on your gameplay. There’s also a general Play mode where the AI will adjust to your playing level, helping you enhance your skills.
However, some lessons and puzzles are locked behind a monthly subscription of $14.99.
7. Truth or Dare AI
This is a good AI game to learn new things. Give the AI some themes and topics you want to explore. The app will then design a Truth or Dare game around that topic with questions and answers. It will generate questions if you select Truth and will dare you if you select Dare. The app also tracks whether each player completes or skips their tasks.
However, when the game begins, the AI will create a bank of a limited number of truths and dares based on your topic or theme. Once all the truth questions are used up, you have no option but to use dares.
Online AI Games
These AI games can help understand logic, learn prompting, learn a new topic, or help you figure out if the person on the other end talking to you is human. Whether you’re looking to test your wits, improve a skill, or just enjoy some ridiculous outcomes, these browser games offer something unique and engaging.
