Whether you’re a film enthusiast, who just got his MoviePass renewed or want to know when is the right time to go pee in the middle of the movie, check out the best apps for every movie cinemagoer. Let’s begin.

Before we begin, I’m not going to list the most obvious one like IMDb, Netflix, Fandango, etc as you might already be using them. Instead, we’re going to check out some of the lesser known but incredibly useful apps.

Best Apps for Movie Lovers

1. RunPee

Movies are generally not that long nowadays, but Avengers: Endgame with its 182-minute runtime contributed to a large number of unofficial trips to the bathroom and a lot of missed scenes. Not chugging a large soda during the movie is one but RunPee is the better alternative. Instead of asking the guy next to you what happened while you were gone, you can simply use RunPee, which tells you the best time to pee in a movie.

RunPee is a free app but you would have to purchase peecoins if you want to know about the peetimes of a recently released title. You can get the app on the Play Store and the App Store.

Install RunPee (Android | iOS)

2. Should I Wait?

So you made it till the end without missing any of the major scenes but now you’re wondering whether you should stay for the end credits scene. Well, the short answer is, of course, you should, however, if you have a bus to catch then probably you should install Should I Wait? app. It works on a poll system where all the users who have watched the movie vote if the movie has a post-credits scene or not.

Should I Wait is a handy tool in figuring out whether the app has a post credit scene, however, if the app goes dud, there are other options as well.

Install Should I Wait? (Android)

3. Letterboxd

Don’t you get the urge to talk to someone right after you’ve finished an awesome movie? Yeah, same. Letterboxd is a wonderful social media app for movies, all the movie fans are here and they share their reviews for the films the just watched, have discussions and leave comments. Think of it like Facebook and IMDb had a lovechild. The app tells you stats like cast, crew, studio, genre, the number of people who’ve watched it, likes, etc. The best feature of this movie is the list feature. You can add movies to your watchlist for later but wait there’s more, people can share a custom playlist of movies which others can see and add the titles to their list. I discovered so many amazing movies that I didn’t know even existed.

Letterboxd is a decent app which allows you to keep a list of all the movies, discuss movie details, and read reviews. You can get the app for Android and iOS on the Play Store and the App Store respectively.

Install Letterboxd (Android | iOS)

4. itcher

‘What do you want to watch?’, I’ve asked this myself a couple of hundred times and still ended up watching the same five movies over and over again. itcher is a recommendation app which suggests movies based on your preference. Not just movies, the app recommends shows, books, artists, and games, you just have to start by voting for five different titles and you’ll get a whole feed of interesting and relevant titles. It also has a feature where you can configure the app to give you couple recommendations, you just have to add their itcher account in the app and it would match your preferences and suggest the best movies and shows which you can watch together, it is kind of like magic.

You can use itcher if you want to figure out which movies to watch based on your interests and preferences. Taste is another app which gives you suggestions based on your taste in movies. The app is free and you can get it for Android.

Install itcher (Android)

5. Dinggo!

If you have a subscription of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or all three then you know how hard it is to pick something to watch on these services. Dinggo! makes it super easy for you to pick the right movie. It works just like tinder, once you enter your preferences, the would recommend movies and you can just start swiping.

It is a great app nonetheless and it’s available for Android and iOS.

Install Dinggo! ( Android | iOS)

6. Play Movie Trivia Games

Sometimes you just want to sit back and talk about movies with your friends, what’s a better way than trivia games. You can find hundreds of movie trivia games apps on the Play Store and App Store which will keep your pack entertained and hone your memory. Apps like Guess the Movie, Guess the Movie Quiz, Guess Movie 2018, Quiz Game, etc have an extensive list of questions and games which would keep the party going.

You can simply search for Movie quiz on the Play Store and the App Store to find the best games.

7. Trakt.TV

Trakt.TV is the one app you’ll need to sync all of your media content. For example, you have a digital copy of the TV show on your hard disk which is connected to your Plex Server or Kodi. Trakt.TV would keep track of how far along you’ve come in a season. It works like this, you create an account on Trakt.TV and then install the app for the media center on your computer or your device. After installing the apps, log in with the same account and you’re good to go. Trakt will keep track of your recently watched shows and notify you of any upcoming shows on your list.

Trakt.TV can be integrated with a wide variety of apps like Kodi, Plex, Netflix, Emby, Infuse, VLC, Streamio, etc. It also has apps for Android, iOS, tvOS, Apple Watch, iPad, and Windows Phone which can sync your media consumption to all the devices.
