While the whole world is under lockdown due to Coronavirus, getting to the gym or even taking a stroll is not possible for many of us. Thankfully, if you have an Apple TV, you can get a good workout right at your home. Here’s a. list of best workout apps for Apple TV offering workout ranging from casual stretching to intense Cardio.

1. Daily Workouts
Recommended for: Beginner-level exercise.
Daily Workout is a simple app that offers exercises for six muscle groups; Abs, Arm, Butt, Cardio, Leg, and Full. The app doesn’t have the prettiest interface but you do get important information on your screens such as exercise number, time remaining, and an animation. You can pause and skip through exercises using your Siri remote.

There are only three timers for a workout, namely 6, 8, and 10 minutes. The free version has plenty of workouts and exercises to keep you running for a while but if you want, you can get the full version of the app for $20 that has more than 290+ exercises.

2. 7-Minutes Workouts
Recommended for: Casual Workout without commitments.
7-Minutes Workout is based on popular circuit workout, wherein you do exercises such as squats, pushups, etc with 10 seconds of rest in between them. For instance, the app showcases workouts designed for losing fat, building endurance, gaining muscles, and improving cardio. It’s simple, you find a workout of your choice, press OK, and the workout begins.
The animation on the screen will demonstrate the exercise and a countdown on the top left will notify you of the progress of the workout. The only thing that I didn’t like about this app is that there is no option to pause the app whatsoever.

3. Streaks
Recommended for: Regular Workouts.
Streaks is one of the simplest workout apps that lets you workout without distractions. It has a minimal interface that is best suited for the bigger screen as you won’t have to squint on your tiny phone screen. There are 30 different exercises built in the app which you can customize to your suiting. You can even create your own workout of custom duration. Plus, you don’t need any special equipment to begin your workout as most are body-weight exercises.
Apart from that, you can play music from the app and sync your workout data to the Health app. The best part about this app is that you can seamlessly switch between your iPhone, Apple TV, and even Apple Watch without losing your streak(ha!). Streaks is available for $3.99 on the App Store.

4. Yoga Studio
Recommended for: Yoga and Meditation.
Yoga Studio curates a tailored list of poses and exercises that you can do from the comfort of your living room. Apart from basic poses such as Shavasana, Surya Namaskar, etc, there are customized collections of different Yoga positions that would help you focus on a specific part of your body.
The app is really easy to follow from a TV and you can choose from a variety of collections. You can start your session and scrub through the classes until you find the perfect exercise or you can sort it based on ability, duration, and focus.
The best part of the app is that every class is designed to simulate real-time experience so that you can follow the poses in real-time instead of deciphering some infographics. The app has a few dozen free classes to get you started and once you do, you can get a subscription for just $9.99/mo.

5. Adidas Training
Recommended for: Tailored workouts.
Adidas Traning app is designed to offer custom exercise routines tailored to your body type. The interface shows you all the exercises in a workout with a real-time animation to help you with the correct form and a timer.
It creates a profile based on your physical fitness and parameters such as height, weight, and your body goal. There are 30 different workout routines starting from stretching and moving up to intense powerups. You can filter the exercises based on core muscle groups if you know what you need to work on, beginners like me stick to pre-planned workouts. A portion of the app that includes plenty of exercises and workouts is free and if you want you can unlock all the premium content starting at $9.99/mo.

6. Strong by Zumba
Recommended for: Entertaining workout.
If you’re someone who finds regular workouts boring and like to include Zumba on your conversation starters then Strong by Zumba is a no brainer. The app is designed to teach you the basics of Zumba and isn’t a typical workout app.
There are more than six hours of Zumba lessons that you can take for free and work your way up. Think of it like a Zoom call for Zoomba.

7. Active by POPSUGAR
Recommend for: All in one workout app.
Active by Popsugar is a multi-genre workout app that includes workouts such as kickboxing, cardio, pilates, yoga, full-body burn, etc. The app offers more than 500 workouts that would surely make significant improvements in your body. The interface is video-based where instructors demonstrate the proper form and speed for doing an exercise. You can also scrub the video any time during a session.
On top of that, the app has challenges that you can add to your collections and finish it as per your comfort level. The exercises have a brief explanation about it and you can pause a video mid-session and continue from where you left off. The app is free and doesn’t even have any ads or any in-app purchases.

8. Moms into Fitness
Recommended for: Women and expecting mothers.
This app is one of a kind that is designed for expecting mothers and women. The app focuses on hybrid exercises such as Barre exercises and special postnatal programs. The content is video-based with real trainers demonstrating the exercises.
However, the app includes more workout routines such as core restore, lower body, full body, etc tailored specially for women. They even have workouts for kids.

These were some of my favorite workout apps that you can use on an Apple TV and easily follow the exercises and routines. I really like the minimal interface of Streaks and it minimizes distractions and while Adidas Training app is great for serious workouts. I also do yoga to calm my nerves. Which app do you prefer?
