Nothing has been teasing their first smartphone under the CMF brand for some time now. However, a tipster has revealed much of the phone’s details including specifications and pricing for India.
CMF Phone 1 Would be One Fancy-Looking Phone
Nothing confirmed on its official Twitter acount that the CMF Phone 1’s official release is slated for July 8. The tweet teased textured bright orange back, while a matte black option appeared in an earlier teaser.
The phone will sell in Orange, Black, Blue, and Green options.
The unique feature of this phone is that back will feature a screw mechanism. That means you can easily replace it with a screwdriver. A round dial, similar to those found on the CMF Buds Pro 2, Watch 2 Pro, and their neckband, is also present on the back. You may use this dial to control volume or even as a lanyard.
CMF Phone 1 Full Specs and Pricing (Expected)
The company also confirmed that the CMF Phone 1 will sport a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 200 nits peak brightness, and HDR+ support.
The phone will get MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset which is based on a new 4nm-based fabrication process that is designed to focus on performance and efficiency. Phone 1 will have 128GB storage and come in two variants— 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM.
Here are the complete CMF Phone 1 specs based confirmation from Nothing and leaked by tipsters:
- 6.7-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED Display
- 120Hz refresh rate
- MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC
- 6/8GB LPDDR4x RAM
- 128GB of UFS 2.2 Storage
- Expandable up to 2TB using microSD card
- 50-megapixel rear camera + depth sensor
- 16-megapixel selfie camera
- 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging

CMF Phone 1 price (expected): Rs. 15,999 (~$191) and Rs. 17,999 (~$215), after bank discounts.
A Promising Budget Contender, If the Price Is Right
If the estimates of price are true, the CMF Phone 1 could be a value-for-money smartphone that excels in three areas: a good display for consuming media, a powerful enough processor for gaming, and a large battery for over a day’s worth of use.
Considering the bright color schemes and the possibility of a removable back panel that could be replaced with different colors, the phone could also have a high “flaunt factor.” It’s currently unclear whether Nothing will separately sell these back panels.
We’re not expecting them to include a 3.5mm audio jack since Nothing and CMF sell wireless neckbands and earbuds in different price segments. However, you can expect microSD card support.
If the starting price after discounts is Rs. 15,999 (~$191), the actual launch price could be higher. While the launch price seems attractive, anything higher might not be competitive, considering the better-specced Nothing Phone (2a) is available within a similar price range.
Here’s the leaked image of all CMF Phone 1 components, which the brand was supposed to unveil bit-by-bit every day but got leaked anyway:
Compared to the Nothing Phone (2a), the CMF Phone 1 sheds the signature glyph lights, gets a weaker set of cameras (no ultra-wide), and may lose some other premium features. Surprisingly, while the CMF Phone 1 will flaunt Dimensity 7300, the 2a offers Dimensity 7200 Pro and starts at Rs. 23,999. The performance gap is marginal though.
But if the replaceable back panels generate hype, it can easily be one of the best budget smartphones out there. The device, once launched, would compete with the likes of OnePlus Nord 3, iQOO Z9, Poco X6, and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion.
Alongside its first-ever phone, CMF will also launch the new CMF Buds Pro 2 and CMF Watch Pro 2 on July 8.
