I’ve always had a soft spot for Cinematic Platformer games like Prince of Persia, so Belmont’s Curse immediately caught my attention. Between its Gothic setting, whip-based combat, and focus on the Belmont family, it feels like a modern take on everything fans love about the series.

If you want to catch up on all the trailers, announcements, and surprises revealed this year, be sure to check out our coverage of Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Story

The year is 1499, and Paris is burning.

As monstrous creatures pour from the shadows, Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose Belmont set out to stop the growing darkness. Armed with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, they venture into the city to uncover the source of the invasion and confront the evil spreading from a mysterious castle looming over the horizon.

As the story unfolds, Rose becomes entangled in a conspiracy far greater than she expected, forcing her to face both legendary monsters and terrifying new threats.

Personally, I love the decision to focus on Rose Belmont. Introducing a new Belmont protagonist while keeping Trevor involved feels like a great way to expand the franchise without abandoning its roots.

What I’m Expecting From Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

Feature My Expectations
Whip Combat Fast, fluid combat that makes full use of the Vampire Killer’s versatility.
Arcana System Meaningful boss rewards that encourage different builds and playstyles.
Exploration Large interconnected maps filled with secrets, shortcuts, and hidden treasures.
Boss Battles Challenging encounters against classic Castlevania icons and new enemies.

Should You Pre-Order Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse?

Personally, I think the Alucard Style Costume is a fun bonus for longtime Castlevania fans, but it’s not the kind of exclusive content that makes pre-ordering essential.

The Midnight Edition is where the extra value lies, especially if you’re interested in cosmetics, artwork, and additional lore content. For everyone else, the Standard Edition looks like an easy recommendation at its relatively affordable price point.

Final Thoughts

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse already looks like one of the most promising action games of 2026. Between its Gothic atmosphere, expanded whip mechanics, and Arcana-based progression system, it feels like a modern evolution of the classic Castlevania formula.

As someone who has spent years exploring Dracula’s castles, I’m excited to see how Rose Belmont’s adventure brings a fresh perspective to one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.
