I’ve replayed Halo: Combat Evolved more times than I can count, so seeing it get a full modern remake is incredibly exciting. Halo: Campaign Evolved isn’t just a visual upgrade either. It expands the original adventure with new missions, enhanced gameplay, and modern co-op features while staying true to what made the original special.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Story
After crash landing on the mysterious Halo ringworld, Master Chief and Cortana must help humanity survive against overwhelming Covenant forces while uncovering the ancient secrets hidden beneath the surface.
The remake faithfully retells the original story while adding three brand-new missions that expand the narrative. Players will also join Sgt. Johnson in a new story arc featuring fresh environments, enemies, and gameplay scenarios.
Personally, I think this is the perfect way to revisit one of gaming’s most iconic campaigns. The original story still holds up today, and the addition of new missions gives veteran players a reason to jump back in.

Should You Pre-Order?
Personally, I think the Standard Edition already offers excellent value considering the amount of content included. The remake contains the entire original campaign plus three new missions, making it much more than a simple remaster.
The Premium Edition makes sense if you’re interested in cosmetic rewards and the digital art collection, but most players will probably be happy with the Standard Edition.
Final Thoughts
Halo: Campaign Evolved feels like a celebration of one of the most influential shooters ever made. Between the rebuilt visuals, expanded campaign, additional missions, and modern co-op features, it looks like the definitive way to experience Master Chief’s first adventure.
As someone who grew up playing Combat Evolved, this is easily one of the remakes I’m most excited to revisit in 2026.
