Dandadan has finally shared a brand-new look at season 2’s main villain, teasing what could be Okarun’s most intense battle to date. At the end of season 1, viewers see Momo, Okarun, and their gang travel to Jiji’s hometown to exorcise a malevolent yokai haunting his family’s home. That arc was left unresolved, but what little fans saw was more than enough to confirm that the threat is very real and extremely terrifying.

Finally, ahead of Dandadan Season 2’s July 2025 premiere, that villain has a name and a voice. The new character is called The Evil Eye, and lending him his voice is Japanese voice actor Mutsumi Tamura, known for voicing characters like Kobayashi from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. For those familiar with the manga, it should come as no surprise that this antagonist will steal the show.
Dandadan Season 2’s New Villain Explained

The Evil Eye isn’t your typical cursed spirit. His origins are surprisingly tragic and rooted in a brutal supernatural ritual. Before becoming a spirit, he was just a regular boy—until the Kito family sacrificed him to the Mongolian Death Worm to prevent a volcanic eruption. When he returned from death as a spirit, he tried to save the next victim from the same fate, but failed. As he continued to witness more children being sacrificed, he was slowly consumed by bitterness, hatred, and rage—not just toward the Kito clan, but toward humanity itself. Fueled by this trauma, he transformed into the yokai known as the Evil Eye.
In the present timeline, the Evil Eye deceives Jiji into letting him take over his body under the pretense of helping him defeat the Mongolian Death Worm and take revenge on the Kito family. But once in control, he quickly shifts into full destruction mode, aiming to wipe out all of humanity. After an intense showdown, the group defeats him—but when Jiji learns his tragic backstory, he begs for mercy. The Evil Eye is spared, and what happens next is one of Dandadan’s most unexpected turns.
Why The Evil Eye Is One of Dandadan’s Best Characters

The Evil Eye sticks around after his defeat and becomes one of the series’ most beloved characters. For Jiji, who originally had no powers, being possessed by the Evil Eye gives him a solid reason to be part of the action, as now he can contribute towards helping Momo and Okarun. More importantly, it allows his empathetic side to shine. Their bond is strange but heartfelt, giving Jiji’s character more depth, making him a character that fans root for.
As for the Evil Eye himself? He’s an absolute riot. What starts as a tragic, rage-fueled yoaki gradually turns into someone who just wants to throw hands with anyone and everyone. He’s loud, over-the-top, unpredictable, and hilarious. His transformation from genocidal maniac to unhinged sparring partner can be considered a highlight of the manga, and his addition to season 2 is going to be one of the major season highlights. Dandadan season 2 is set to officially premiere in Japan on July 3, 2025, but some lucky fans around the world can catch it early through special theatrical screenings.
