Update: We last updated this article with the latest Demonology Ghost Types on June 25, 2026.

Ghosts are the main threat in Roblox's Demonology. Each ghost has its own strengths, weaknesses, and evidence that you must identify before ending a job. Finding the correct ghost type is the key to completing investigations and earning rewards. In this article, we will go over all Ghost Types in Demonology, evidence of their presence, and how to identify them.

What Are Ghost Types in Demonology?

As mentioned before, your objective in Demonology is to identify the Ghost Type correctly. There are various types of Ghosts in the game, and identifying one successfully is necessary to complete an investigation. Each Ghost type is different and will leave three unique pieces of evidence. The ghost type in each job is selected randomly, meaning that no Ghost has a higher or lower chance of appearing than another.

Here is the information on all Ghosts:

Aswang

Ghost Types in Demonology

Aswang is one of the Ghost Types in Demonology. Every time an Aswang kills a player, its movement speed increases by 20%, making it more dangerous as the investigation progresses. Note that the movement buff will apply for unique kills. It means he won't receive the buff if he kills a revived player whom he killed already. Fortunately, this can be countered with Salt, which slows the Aswang whenever it walks through it.

Banshee

Banshee occasionally emits a unique wail at the start of the hunt, which can be used to identify it early doors. This Ghost will also break glass around the Job Sites more often. You will still need to identify the Ghost after gathering evidence, as a Skinwalker can mimic Banshee's wail.

Demon

Ghost Types in Demonology

Demon is one of the easier ones to identify among all Ghost Types in Demonology. This Ghost will start hunts frequently, so stay alert. They will immediately start the hunt when the energy bar drops to 85%. They are so hunt-loving that another hunt triggers as soon as the cooldown period ends.

Cross equipment is super effective against the Demon, as it will have an increased area of effect against the Ghost. The Cross will also burn and float after it successfully stops the hunt from starting.

Dullahan

Dullahan can gain speed when it spots a player. This Ghost Type will appear headless in photos, so make sure to carry a Photo Camera. You can try hiding around doors or inside cabinets to break Dullahan's line of sight and decrease its speed. I would also recommend equipping the Chariot Perk to counter a Dullahan.

Dybbuk

Ghost Types in Demonology

Dybbuk is a fairly unique Ghost Type in Demonology. It can throw corpses of dead players around the map. It gets stunned for three seconds when you play the Music Box near it. If you find a ghost interacting with dead bodies, there is a good chance you're dealing with a Dybbuk.

Entity

The Entity ghost can teleport between rooms. It can also teleport objects, leaving a smoke effect. If you notice items moving unexpectedly throughout the Job Site, an Entity might be to blame.

Ghoul

Ghost Types in Demonology

Ghoul is one of the more dangerous Ghost Types in Demonology. Sending excessive messages in chat can trigger a hunt. However, it cannot disable electronic equipment, which makes it easier to identify during hunts.

Keres

Keres prefers targeting players with the lowest Energy and leaves high-energy players alone. If you're in the solo lobby, be sure to keep your energy level above the 90% mark. Because it will start the hunt if your energy drops below the threshold. The good news is that, Keres loses 10% speed for every unique kill.

Leviathan

Ghost Types in Demonology

Leviathan is known for interfering with electronic equipment. It can flicker devices and turn lights off around the Job Site. If you're constantly dealing with electrical disturbances, Leviathan is worth considering.

Nightmare

The Nightmare Ghost can cause auditory hallucinations. You might hear sounds of objects being thrown, windows being broken, and similar sounds when it's near. The ghost is afraid of brightly lit rooms. Keeping lights on may reduce some of its activity and make investigations safer. Don't go into the dark room if you're sure of the Nightmare's presence. Because it can start the hunt and kill you in no time.

Oni

Ghost Types in Demonology

Oni is one of the fastest Ghosts during hunts. It is also more likely to reveal its appearance through Ghost Events. If you constantly see the Ghost manifesting itself, an Oni could be the culprit.

Phantom

Phantom behaves differently during hunts compared to other Ghosts. It blinks slower while visible but moves faster when invisible. Paying close attention during hunts can help identify it.

Ravager

Ghost Types in Demonology

Ravager is a highly active Ghost that can throw multiple objects around the environment. Additionally, it can create a vortex during a hunt that sucks nearby objects into it. Every one of its abilities leaves behind EMF Level 5 evidence, making it easier to confirm once activity begins.

Revenant

Revenant can reduce the cooldown period between hunts. It means the next hunt will start sooner after the previous one. However, the hunt ends immediately after it kills a player.

Shadow

Ghost Types in Demonology

Shadow is one of the quieter Ghost Types in Demonology. It produces fewer Ghost Events in lit rooms and increases the chances of leaving evidence via Inscription, Laser projectors, and more. Shadow can also start the hunt when inside a lit room.

Moreover, these Ghosts will very slowly reduce the temperature, decreasing by decimals. So be careful while using a thermometer to detect its presence.

Siren

Siren uses a female Ghost Model and responds to the Spirit Box with a female voice. It sometimes hums in response to your questions. During hunts, Siren can slow players within its line of sight. Make sure not to get caught in its gaze.

Skinwalker

Ghost Types in Demonology

Skinwalker is one of the hardest Ghost Types to identify. It can mimic the abilities of other Ghosts and even fake Ghost Orb evidence. Always gather all available evidence before locking in a Skinwalker. Here are the abilities that Skinwalker can mimic from other Ghosts:

Abilities Skinwalker Can CopyOriginal Ghosts
Can wail when the hunt startsBanshee
Low hunt cooldownDemon

Can teleport itself and the objectsEntity

Throws multiple objects and can make objects fall one after anotherRavager
Hums into the Spirit Box instead of answering correctlySiren
Alters flame's colorSpirit
Walks through lines of fire and lights candlesThe Wisp
Silent footstepsUmbra
Passes through wallsVex

Specter

Compared to others, Specter has low hunting skills. You can find them being more active during the evidence-gathering phase. You can find it throwing objects more frequently than most Ghosts. Also, Specter rarely leaves its Ghost Room and prefers staying in one location until a hunt begins.

Spirit

Ghost Types in Demonology

Spirit is one of the easier Ghost Types to identify in Demonology. It can change the flame of lit candles, turning them blue. This evidence can help you narrow down your investigation. I will recommend finding or purchasing a Lighter before entering a job.

The Wisp

The Wisp can walk through lines of fire, generated with Holy Oil, around the Job Site. It can also light candles as evidence of its presence (not mentioned in the Journal). The Ghost will always start a hunt when a player is inside its favorite room.

Umbra

Umbra moves silently, not even producing footstep sounds during hunts. However, it will move slowly in well-lit rooms. Make sure to switch on the lights whenever entering a room to escape the Umbra.

Vesper

Ghost Types in Demonology

Vesper is blind, so it will be relatively easier to evade than other ghosts. However, be sure not to make any sounds, because it will immediately move to your location upon hearing. Another thing to keep in mind is it can also hear through walls. Remaining quiet and avoiding unnecessary noise can help you survive encounters with it.

Vex

Vex does not appear in LIDAR scans and can pass through walls. This makes it one of the more difficult Ghost Types in Demonology to track using equipment. I usually rely on my instincts to identify this Ghost. Also, Vex can't move through furniture, like through walls.

Wendigo

Ghost Types in Demonology

Wendigo becomes faster as the average Energy of players decreases. It is also less likely to begin hunts near lit flames such as Candles and Lanterns. That being said, make sure to light Candles or carry a Lantern.

Wraith

Ghost Types in Demonology

When you start the job hunted by the Wraith, your energy will decrease rapidly. This makes the hunt start sooner than usual. If you find evidence of a Wraith's presence, be on high alert, as the hunt can start at any time. You can avoid the ghost by making a line of salt on the floor, because the Wraith doesn't disturb it. If your Energy is depleting unusually quickly, it's most likely a Wraith. Be ready with the salt.

How To Identify Ghost Types in Demonology

Identifying Ghosts becomes much easier once you know how evidence works. I usually start every investigation by locating the Ghost Room using a Thermometer. Once I find the room, I place passive equipment such as the Spirit Book, Video Camera, and Laser Projector.

I also use active equipment like the EMF Reader, Blacklight, and Spirit Box to gather the remaining evidence. Once you collect three pieces of evidence, you can compare them with your Journal and determine the Ghost Type. Each Ghost also has a unique trait that you can look out for. Once you know what trait a Ghost Type in Demonology has, it will be easier to identify.
