Discord Game and Video Quests: How to Play and Earn Rewards

Discord introduced Quests back in March of this year, allowing users to play games to earn rewards like in-game items or profile decorations. It’s a win-win for both game developers, who can promote their games, and users, who get to discover new games and earn rewards.

Now, Discord has introduced a new type of quest called Video Quests. Like Game Quests, users can watch short promotional videos to claim rewards. In this guide, we’ll explain what Discord Quests are, how to play them, how to claim rewards, and more.

What Are Discord Quests?

Discord Quests are interactive ads that reward users for playing or watching promotional content. Currently, there are two types of quests available: Game Quests and Video Quests.

Game Quests focus on gameplay, where users play or stream a particular game for a set amount of time. For instance, a quest might require a user to play a newly released game for 15 minutes. In return, users can earn rewards such as digital items, exclusive Discord server roles, or special profile decorations.

On the other hand, Video Quests focus on watching ads or promotional videos. Users watch short clips, usually advertisements related to new games or sponsored content. After watching the required content, users receive rewards similar to those from Game Quests.

Discord has made details of each quest available like the game or video information, duration required, rewards, and availability period. While Discord does not explicitly mention the expiry of rewards in the quest details, their terms state that rewards are available only for a specific period. After that, users may need to purchase those decorations or play other quests for similar rewards.

How to Play Discord Quests

Discord Quests are currently available through the Discord desktop app and web browser. The feature is not fully accessible on mobile apps yet but is being beta tested. Mobile users can track their progress and receive quest notifications, although completing certain quests may require a desktop or browser setup.

  1. Access the Quests Section: Open the Discord desktop app or log in through a browser, go to the Discover option at the bottom left corner, and select Quests. This tab displays all available challenges along with descriptions of what is required for each.
  2. Select a Quest: Browse through Game Quests or Video Quests. Each quest description outlines the task, such as playing a game for a specific duration or watching a video. This helps users pick quests that align with their interests.
  3. Complete the Task:
    • For Game Quests, users may need to download and install the specified game. Discord integrates with the game’s API to track playtime or streaming activities. Once you start playing the game while logged into Discord, the platform automatically monitors your playtime to ensure you meet the quest’s requirements.
    • Video Quests are simpler, requiring users to watch a short video or ad directly through the Discord interface. Once the ad finishes, Discord logs the completion and updates the user’s progress.
  4. Track Your Progress: The Quests tab includes a progress bar or percentage tracker, showing how close users are to completing the required activity. Discord mobile app users can go to Settings > Quests to track their quest progress.
  5. Claim Your Rewards: When users complete the required tasks, rewards can be claimed directly in the Quests tab. Rewards might include in-game items, exclusive server roles, or custom profile features.

Things to Note About Discord Quests

  • Quest Availability: Some quests are region-specific, meaning they may only be available to users in certain countries. Keep an eye on the available quests as they might change based on your location.
  • Limited Participation: Some quests may have a limited number of participants, meaning they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s a good idea to start quests as soon as they appear to ensure participation.
  • Notifications: Users can enable notifications to get alerted when new quests become available, ensuring they don’t miss out on limited-time opportunities.
  • Connection to Accounts: Some Game Quests may require linking your gaming account to Discord for tracking purposes. Make sure you’re comfortable with the permissions required before linking accounts.
  • Eligibility: Quests are available only to users who are at least 18 years old.
  • Privacy: Participating in quests requires sharing certain data with Discord, including game activity and time spent watching videos. However, you can go to User Settings > Privacy and Safety and disable the toggle beside In-game rewards. This will still show you Quests, but Discord will not track your activity to show you personalized ones.

Final Thoughts on Discord Quests

Discord Quests combines gameplay and video-based activities to provide a structured way for users to earn rewards. Whether through playing new games or engaging with ads, users can access in-game perks and exclusive Discord features. While the desktop and browser versions currently offer the best experience, the mobile app is gradually catching up. By understanding how to access, play, and claim rewards from Discord Quests, users can take full advantage of this feature as Discord continues to expand and refine it.
