Discord recently pushed a new update to its Activity Status. The new activity tracker not only displays the name of the game you are playing but also how long have you been at it. The currently playing game details are shown under your profile name for all to see. The feature is enabled by default but you can disable it. You may have seen a similar feature on Steam.
Discord’s Activity Status will now show what games you have been playing. If you open an NFS after a long time, your friends will know and can join you for a few fun-filled hours. Earlier, it used to show just the game’s name. It now shows the number of hours you have spent in the game giving your friends a deeper insight into your gaming habits. But wait there is more. Discord will show gaming history under Activity Tracking for the past 30 days. That’s long enough to understand someone’s gaming patterns I guess. And then there’s the live timer that shows the game you are playing right now and for how long. Here’s a list of all features:
- What game you are playing right now
- Live timer that shows how long have you been playing that game
- New feature called Streaks shows how many times you return to that game
- Number of hours spent on a particular game
- History breaking down all the gaming activity for the past 30 days
- Jams you are listening to or have listened to
Pro Tip: There is a way to get Discord Nitro for free. Get it now.
How to Disable Activity Status
If you like privacy and don’t want other gamers to know how long it is taking you to finish Black Myth Wukong, there is a way to disable Activity Status. Here’s how:
- Open Discord.
- Go to Settings > Activity Privacy.
- Here you can enable or disable your activity status by toggling the following settings:
- Share your activity with others controls whether or not anyone on Discord can see your activity status
- Share your activity status by default when joining large servers allows your activity status to automatically display as status message in members list of joined servers.
You can also control individual games from being shown in the Activity History to your friends. Here’s how:
- Open Discord.
- Go to Settings > Registered Games.
- Toggle games here that you want others to see when you are playing here.
Most gamers I know like to keep their gaming history activity private. Fortunately, that is possible on Discord too. So what game are you playing right now?
