The Lava Basin update in Fish It brought a massive new area locked behind a giant door. If you want to get inside and catch the exclusive fish, you need to complete a simple quest first. Fish It Lava Basin Quest Guide
Firstly, you need to head over to the Kohana Volcano area, where you will find the Lava Basin. If you joined the previous Kohana Revamp update, you know that to go deep, you need to complete the Suited Up quest from the Hazmat Leader NPC to obtain the Hazmat Suit. If you don’t have it yet, grab that first because you’ll need it to survive in the lava area.
Once you’re in the volcanic area, look for the Magma Fisherman NPC. He’s standing right next to a giant door that you can’t open yet. Talk to him, and he’ll give you a quest.
Kohana Gatekeeper Quest Requirements in Fish It
The Magma Fisherman wants you to do two things before he opens the giant door. Here’s exactly what you need:
- 1x Blue Flame Ray
- 2x Magma Charms
How to Get the Magma Charms
You can get the Magma Charm for 20,000 Coins by sailing to Kohana Island, walking through the cabins into the water channel, following the cave path down into the Volcano, then crossing the wooden bridge near the Lava Fisherman NPC and taking the first right, where the charm crate sits on a rock ready to buy. The Magma Charms also give you a boost for catching Magma Sharks, which is nice if you’re hunting for those later.
How to Catch the Blue Flame Ray
The Blue Flame Ray is a mythic rarity fish, so it’s not super common. You can catch it in the Volcanic Cavern area. This is the same area where you got your hazmat suit.
Head back to the Volcanic Cavern and start fishing. The Blue Flame Ray can spawn here, but you might need some patience. It’s a mythic fish, so the catch rate isn’t amazing, but it’s definitely not the hardest fish to get. If you have any luck boosters or rods that increase your chances of rare fish, use them here. It’ll make the process faster.
Once you’ve caught the Blue Flame Ray and equipped your two Magma Charms, go back to the Magma Fisherman. Talk to him again, and the door will open automatically. Walk through it, and you’ll see the brand new cavern area. It looks amazing with green and purple crystals everywhere.
What’s Inside the Lava Basin
The new cavern has some really cool stuff:

- Magma Whale (1 in 5 million rarity, permanent)

Crafting Bench
Inside the cavern, you’ll find a crafting bench where you can make special charms. There are four types:

The Lava Basin quest is one of the easiest ways to access end-game content in Fish It. Just grab two Magma Charms, catch one Blue Flame Ray, and you’re in.
