Fish It just added one of its most interesting mechanics yet: Passive Abilities. This one will make your fishing session even more rewarding. Passives activate on their own after a certain number of fishing casts, so you don't need to press anything or remember to activate them. Here is the complete Fish It Passive Ability guide.
Fish It Passive Ability Guide
Passive Abilities are basically bonus effects that kick in automatically after you've done a set number of casts. Once you equip one, it runs quietly in the background and activates on its own once the cast count hits the trigger number. This is a big deal because it means your fishing sessions now have an extra layer of progression.

How the Passive Ability Spin System Works in Fish It
To get a passive, you use the spin system. It works a lot like a gacha mechanic. So you spend a resource to spin, and you get a random passive ability based on rarity. The more you spin, the better your chances of landing something from the higher tiers.
- To open the system, first draw your fishing rod, and you will see a new Roll option on the screen.
- Click it, and you will be able to spin for a Passive Ability.
Every player gets one free spin the first time they access the feature. That's a nice way to get you started without spending anything. After that, you need to buy additional spins, which cost:
- 1x Spin - 6 Shards or 49 Robux
- 10x Spins - 490 Robux
- 25x Spins - 1,255 Robux

It's worth using your free spin right away. Even if you don't get something top-tier, having any passive equipped is better than having none at all.
Fish It Passive Abilities Tiers Explained

There are 7 tiers of passives in total, arranged from common at the top to the rarest at the bottom. The lower you go on the list, the stronger the passive. Here's how to think about each tier:
| Rarity | Luck Odds | Passive Ability | Cast Trigger | Active For | Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 26.1% | Bubble | 225 | 30 | A little extra luck when the giant bubble bursts |
| Uncommon | 21.7% | Wind | 300 | 30 | Swirling wind increases luck and reeling speed |
| Rare | 19.6% | Frost | 350 | 35 | Boosted luck with a chance for Frost Mutation |
| Epic | 15.2% | Lava | 400 | 40 | Boosted luck with an additional boost target at catching sharks |
| Legendary | 8.7% | Lightning | 400 | 49 | Zeus-themed power that can chain extra casts |
| Mythical | 4.3% | Singularity | 400 | 40 | Black hole power with a large luck boost |
| Secret | 4.3% | Divine | 400 | 100 | Blesses nearby players with boosted luck, giving you triple fish pull |
The Tier 7 Divine passive is the one everyone's going to be chasing. It's the hardest to get, but obviously gives the best effect. If you get anything from Tier 5 or above on your first few spins, that's a great start.
One example from early gameplay is the Frost passive, which falls somewhere in the mid-tier range. It's not the best, but it's a solid one to have while you work toward something higher.

If you collect all the abilities, you will be able to unlock the new Could Weaver skin for your rod.
Should You Keep Spinning for Passive Abilities?
If you're happy with what you got from the free spin, you can stick with it for a while. But if you want to push for a Divine-tier passive, you'll need to keep spending Shards. Shards are something you earn through regular gameplay, so you don't necessarily have to spend Robux. But if you're impatient and want to chase a specific passive faster, the Robux option at 49 Robux per spin is always there.
The smart move is to save up a decent amount of Shards before spinning again, so you can do multiple spins in one go and improve your odds.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Passives
First, always have a passive equipped. Even a Tier 1 passive is better than nothing since it still gives you a bonus on every trigger. Second, don't burn all your Shards on spins right away. Save them up and do a batch of spins when you have enough for at least 5 to 10 tries. That way, you're not spinning one at a time and feeling the pain of bad luck on each individual roll.
Third, keep an eye on which passive works best with how you fish. If you're doing long sessions on the Classic Island, a passive that gives bonus effects every few casts will stack up nicely over time. If you're doing quick sessions, something with a lower trigger count is probably more useful.
The Passive Ability system is one of the best things Fish It has added in a while. It gives you a real reason to keep grinding, and it adds a layer of excitement to every session, knowing your passive could fire off at any moment.
