There are many fish to catch in Fish It on Roblox, from the start of your journey to end-game catches. Progressing toward bigger and better catches requires upgrading your rods and baits, and it’s best to know which equipment to aim for next. In this Fish It progression guide, you’ll find the best rods and baits to use on your path, along with when to upgrade, so you don’t waste your time or cash.

Fish It Rods Progression Guide
In Fish It, your goal is to upgrade to rods that give you the biggest improvement for your income. You don’t need every rod in the game. You just need the right ones at the right time. Every rod has three main stats you need to care about:
- Luck – This affects how often you catch rare fish. Higher luck means more legendary and mythic catches.
- Speed – This is how fast you reel in fish. Faster speed means you can catch more fish in less time.
- Weight – This determines how heavy your fish can be. Heavier fish sell for way more money.
Here’s the best rod progression from early game to endgame:
| Rod Name | Image | Luck | Speed | Weight | Cost | Where to Get |

| Lava Rod | ![]() | 30% | 2% | 100kg | Free | Lava Fisherman (Kohana Volcano) |

Early Game Rods
The Lava Rod is your first real upgrade. You get it for free by talking to the Lava Fisherman inside Kohana Volcano. It has 30% luck and 100kg weight, which is way better than the starter rod. Use this rod to farm around Kohana Volcano until you have about 15,000 coins saved up. Pair it with Lava Bait or Midnight Bait for the best results.
Once you hit 15,000 coins, buy the Lucky Rod from the Rod Shop immediately. This rod has 130% luck, which is huge for the early game. You’ll start seeing rare fish from this point on, and your money will stack up much faster. Don’t skip this rod. It makes mid-game so much easier.
Mid Game Rods
The Chrome Rod costs 437,000 coins, but it’s worth every penny. With 229% luck and 190,000kg weight capacity, you’ll start pulling in fish that actually make you rich. This is the rod that takes you from grinding slowly to making real progress. Pair it with Chroma Bait and a good bobber, and you will feel a boost to your income.
The Hazmat Rod is sold by the Travelling Merchant on Fisherman Island for 1.3 million coins. Yes, it’s expensive, but this rod has 380% luck and 300,000kg weight, so it’s perfect for mid and late-game farming.
Late Game Rods
At this point, you are already a master fisherman in the late-game, and you need the best rods in the game. The Ghostfinn Rod has 610% luck, 118% speed, and 600,000kg weight. You can’t buy this rod, though. You have to complete the Deep Sea Quest on Lost Isle. The quest takes time, but the rod makes catching secret fish feel easy. Use Mutation Bait or Aether Bait for maximum efficiency.
Your next and final rod is the Diamond Rod, which is the newest and strongest rod in the game right now. It has 1,300% luck, 167% speed, and 1,000,000kg weight. With this rod, nothing escapes you. You get it by completing the Diamond Researcher quest on the Fisherman Island. It’s locked behind tough requirements, but if you already have the Ghostfinn Rod, it will be much easier.
Fish It Bobbers Progression Guide
Baits or bobbers in Fish It are just as important as your rod. Better bait gives you more luck, XP, and mutation chances. Here’s the bait progression you should follow:
| Bobber Name | Image | Best Used With | Special Benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter Bobber | ![]() | Starter Rod | None |
| Midnight Bait | ![]() | Lucky Rod | Balanced stats |
| Chroma Bait | ![]() | Chrome Rod | Increases luck significantly |
| Corrupt Bait | ![]() | Hazmat Rod | Adds mutation chance + weight bonus |
| Aether Bait | ![]() | Ghostfinn Rod | Great for mythic farming |
| Singularity Bait | ![]() | Diamond Rod | Best bait in game |
When Should You Upgrade?
Upgrade when your current rod stops making you money faster. If you’re fishing for hours and your earnings feel stuck, it’s time to move up. Don’t wait too long. A better rod pays for itself quicker than you think. The same goes for bait. Always try to match your bait quality with your rod quality for maximum results.
Follow this Fish It progression guide, and you’ll reach endgame without wasting time on bad upgrades. Every rod and bait on this list has a clear purpose and makes you stronger. Good luck out there!
