Fish It just dropped the Mines update. A brand new underground area has opened up beneath Copper Canyon, and with it comes a new craftable rod, a new Forgotten fish, two fresh emotes, and a free code to claim right now. Here is everything that was added.
Fish It The Mines Update Guide
The Mines - New Area
The biggest addition this update is The Mines, a hidden cavern location that has opened up beneath Copper Canyon. Head into the canyon and go up toward the huge rock. You will find Prospector NPC there with a mining cart in front of the entrance leading underground. You can press E to interact with the mine cart and go inside the Mines.

You will find a forgotten lava-filled fishing pool hidden deep below the surface. This is not just a new location in Fish It. The Mines also introduces a new NPC called Null, new fish exclusive to the area, and the starting point for the Withering Rod quest chain. If you are looking for the new Forgotten Fish or the new rod, this is where you need to be. Careful not to go inside the lava, or you will die.
How to Get the Withering Rod in Fish It
The Withering Rod is a new craftable rod added in this update, and you get it by talking to the Blacksmith Null NPC inside The Mines. The in-game description frames it as an ancient rod that has been uncovered from beneath Copper Canyon, and you will need to craft it and restore its power through a progression chain.
The materials needed for crafting the Withering Rod are:
- Part 1 - Withering Reel 1x
- Part 2 - Withering Handle 1x (You need to unlock the ability to find this inside of Sunken Treasure Chests after completing Part 1)
- Part 3 - Withering Core 1x (You need to unlock the ability to fish this up after completing Part 1 and Part 2)
The exact materials and steps are tied to the Blacksmith's quest, so make sure you speak to him first before doing anything else when you enter The Mines. He will walk you through what you need to craft it.
New Forgotten Fish
A new Forgotten fish has been added to the cavern inside The Mines. The odds are 1 out of 25 million. The name for the fish has not been found yet since it's very rare. You will want to fish in the lava pool area and use your best enchants to improve your chances. If you have Forgotten Hunter on your rod, this is a good time to put it to use.
Note: We will update this section with the name of the fish once it's found in the game.
New Emotes
Two new emotes were added with this update.
| Emote | Price |
|---|---|
![]() Beatboxing Emote | 49 Robux |
![]() Western Showdown Emote | 49 Robux |
The Beatboxing Emote puts your character into a cat-inspired beatbox performance. It is packed with rhythm and meme energy, so if you have been looking for something fun to use while waiting for a bite, this one delivers.
The Western Showdown Emote is a 50/50 dueling emote where you and another player face off in an old western-style standoff. You both draw at the same time, and the outcome is random. It is a great one to use with friends.
Both of the emotes can only be bought through the Robux Shop in the game.
Free Code
A new code was added alongside this update. Use YEEHAW to claim a free Cowboy Hat Halo cosmetic. Redeem it as soon as possible since codes in Fish It can expire without warning.

Aquarium and Inventory QoL Changes
This update also included some quality-of-life improvements. In the Aquarium, fish with the same name now sort next to each other automatically, and mutations display correctly when you are managing your tanks. The Fishing Rod inventory has also been cleaned up. Managing your rods should feel smoother now, especially if you have been stacking up a large collection.
There is a lot to explore in The Mines update in Fish It, and the Withering Rod quest will make you fish for a long time in the new POI. What are you waiting for?
