Fortnite Ballistic v35.10 update will add some big changes to the game on May 16th, 2025. There’s a new volcanic map, free gadgets for everyone, and a Star Wars weapon you can try out. Here’s a quick look at what’s new before your next match.

Table of Contents
Cinderwatch: The New Battleground
The star of this update is Cinderwatch, a Mediterranean-inspired map set beneath an active volcano. If you’ve enjoyed Skyline 10’s tight combat spaces, you’ll feel right at home here. Cinderwatch features:
- Narrow streets that are great for setting up ambushes.
- Strategic choke points that make you think before you move.
- Fast-paced combat with lots of ways to flank enemies.

Cinderwatch is available now in both Test Grounds and Ranked modes. Like previous Test Grounds maps (Hammer Fall and Storm Chaser Cove), Cinderwatch is currently a “shell map” without detailed environmental elements. Epic Games wants your feedback before finalizing the design, so play it now and share your thoughts!
Free Gadgets in Fortnite Ballistic v35.10 Update
The biggest change in v35.10 is that gadgets are now free. You don’t have to spend credits on them anymore. At the start of each round, you’ll automatically spawn with two of your selected gadget at the beginning of each round. This change completely changes how you play Ballistic:
- Every player now has access to gadgets from round one.
- Team coordination becomes even more important.
- Rounds will be more unpredictable and dynamic.
- You’ll need to anticipate enemy gadget usage.

To balance this change, several economic adjustments have also been made:
Item | Old Value | New Value |
---|---|---|
Win Round Credits | 3,300 | 3,100 |
Loss Round Credits | 2,500 | 2,300 |
Smoke Grenades | 200 | 300 |
Flash Grenades | 200 | 300 |
Burst AR | 2,000 | 2,300 |
Star Wars Comes to Fortnite Ballistic v35.10: The DL-44 Blaster
For a limited time until v36.00, you’ll start matches with the iconic DL-44 Blaster Pistol instead of the standard Ranger Pistol. This powerful sidearm from Fortnite Galactic Battle offers accurate shots with significant damage.

Quality-of-Life Improvements
The v35.10 update also adds helpful stuff to make playing Ballistic smoother. These quality-of-life changes fix common issues and give you more ways to play the game your way.
Dedicated Pistol Slot
No more choosing between a primary weapon and a pistol! The v35.10 update introduces a dedicated pistol slot, meaning any pistol you purchase will replace your starter pistol without taking up your primary weapon slot.
Vote-to-Surrender Option
Stuck in an unwinnable match? After the third round, you can now initiate a surrender vote by opening the scoreboard and clicking the surrender button. If most of your team agrees, the match ends (though in Ranked, you’ll still take the loss and rank reduction).

Storm Chaser Cove Improvements
Epic has made several layout changes to Storm Chaser Cove, including:
- A new wall between Mid and Site B to increase flanking time.
- Expanded Site B area.
- Additional low cover and props throughout the map.
What’s Next for Fortnite Ballistic?
Epic Games is still fine-tuning this tactical shooter during Early Access. They want feedback on the Hammer Fall changes from v35.00, your thoughts on the new Cinderwatch map, and how updates like free gadgets and the dedicated pistol slot are affecting your matches. Remember to share your opinions through the in-game surveys, the Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit, or the English Fortnite Discord. Your feedback will definitely help the Epic Games team and shape the game’s development.
