1. New Map Changes and Locations
Three major new Points of Interest have been added to the map, each playing a key role in the bug invasion storyline:
- The Hive is where all the bugs hang out. It’s basically their main base. You’ll find lots of hostile bugs here, so make sure you bring plenty of ammo before going in.
- O.X.R. HQ is your team’s headquarters. This is where you can talk to commanders, plan your attacks, and buy weapons and items using your gold bars at the armory.
- Ranger’s Ruin used to be a weapons lab until the bugs took it over. There’s great loot here, but it’s dangerous because of all the bugs crawling around.
2. Bug Enemies and Combat
The season introduces three types of bug enemies that players will encounter across the island:
- Swarmers – The most common enemy type. They come in big groups and will swarm you if you don’t kill them fast. Don’t let them slow you down.
- Bomber Bugs – Larger enemies found near nests. They’ll pop up behind you and throw nasty goop from far away, so watch your back.
- Queen Bugs – Massive boss enemies that live deep underground. These things are taller than buildings and only come up after you clear out their nest. They can call more bugs to help them, and will try to body slam you into elimination.
3. O.X.R. Ranking System
A new progression system called O.X.R. Rank affects all players during matches. Everyone starts at C rank and can progress through B, A, S, and S+ ranks. Your rank increases by eliminating bugs, other players, and looting chests. Each rank up triggers an O.X.R. Drop Pod delivery to your location containing loot and a Super Soldier Boon.
Reaching the A rank unlocks access to O.X.R. Bunkers with Exotic weapons. S+ rank guarantees a Mythic weapon in your drop pod. The ranking system applies to entire squads, so party members share the same O.X.R. rank during matches.
4. New Weapons and Equipment
Several new weapons join the loot pool to help fight the bug invasion:
- Bug Blaster
- Leadspitter 3000
- Sweeper Shotgun
- O.X.R. Rifle
- Wrecker Revolver
- Swarmstrike
- Blade Blaster (coming later in the season)
5. Exotic Weapons
Five new Exotic weapons are available exclusively in O.X.R. Bunkers after reaching A rank:
- Eradicator O.X.R. Rifle – Increases damage with each successful hit on the same target.
- Double Trouble – Provides two shotguns that can be swapped between with no delay.
- Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher – Fires grenades that slow down both enemies and allies caught in the blast.
- Marksman Wrecker Revolver – Upgraded version with better hip fire rate and headshot multiplier.
- Exotic Slap Berry Fizz – combines the effects of Flowberry Fizz with Slap status.
6. Vehicles and Transportation
Two new vehicle types are being added during the season:
- Roly Poly (coming later) allows players to roll inside a giant bug shell. You can bounce around the map or charge up for speed bursts.
- Hammerhead Choppa (coming later) is a helicopter that can hover mid-air while passengers switch seats to provide covering fire.
7. Boons System
A new Boons system replaces the previous buff mechanics. Boons can be found in chests, purchased from armories, or earned through objectives:
- Agile Aiming Boon – Reduces recoil and spread while aiming down sights, plus maintains movement speed.
- Extended Magazine Boon – Increases clip size for all weapons.
- Storm Forecast Boon – Always reveals the next Storm circle location.
- Super Soldier Boons are exclusive to O.X.R. Drop Pods and provide cumulative benefits:
- Rank B: Reduces energy consumption when sprinting.
- Rank A: Previous effect plus increased reload speed.
- Rank S: Previous effects plus reduced weapon recoil and spread.
- Rank S+: All previous effects plus increased sprint speed and unlimited energy.
8. Medallions and Mythic Weapons
Three Queen bugs at specific locations drop Mythic weapons and Medallions when defeated:
- The Hive Queen drops the Mythic Enhanced Wrecker Revolver and Surge Medallion (increased movement speed and sliding boost).
- Ranger’s Ruin Queen drops the Mythic Tactical Shotgun and Springleg Medallion (double jump ability with fall damage immunity).
- Demon’s Domain Queen drops the Mythic O.X.R. Assault Rifle and Carapace Medallion (50 health on elimination plus 3 shield per second up to 50).
Medallions make you visible on enemy mini-maps, with multiple medallions providing more precise location tracking.
9. Battle Pass Content
The Shock ‘N Awesome Battle Pass costs 1,000 V-Bucks and includes seven outfit rewards:
- UNSC Spartan unlocks immediately upon purchase and will be free for non-Battle Pass holders who reach Level 100 starting August 26th.
- Yoo-mi is described as an idol character.
- Agent Patch appears to be an animal-themed character.
- Battle Gamer Mae has a gaming theme.
- Lt. Ripp Slade represents military personnel.
- Onyx Winter serves as the O.X.R. general.
- Green Ranger is the Power Rangers collaboration skin.
- Dino Megazord Outfit becomes available through quests starting September 16th for Battle Pass holders.
10. Power Rangers Collaboration
The Mighty Morphin Bundle launches on August 8th at 8 PM ET in the Item Shop, featuring:
- Red Ranger outfit
- Black Ranger outfit
- Pink Ranger outfit
- Yellow Ranger outfit
- Blue Ranger outfit
- Go Go Power Rangers – Redux Jam Track
The collaboration extends throughout the season with the Green Ranger in the Battle Pass and the Dino Megazord outfit available later.
11. Special Events and Rewards
- Twitch Drops are available from August 7th at 9 AM ET to August 11th at 12 AM ET:
