Vaults are back in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, and they're worth knowing about. Right now, there's one you can open immediately, and two more locked ones coming later in the season. Here's everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 vaults.

How to Open Vaults in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2

1. Squibbly Shores Vault

The Squibbly Shores vault sits inside Squibbly's Point Lighthouse POI. Unlike most vaults, you don't need a boss drop to open it. You need to fish for the keycard instead.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Land at Squibbly's Point Lighthouse and grab a weapon from the chests nearby.
  2. Pick up a fishing rod from any barrel around the piers and find the glowing blue fishing spot in the water.
  3. Cast your line into the blue spot and reel in the Lighthouse Keycard.
  4. Head back inside the lighthouse and swipe the keycard at the vault panel near the entrance.

The vault gives you at minimum two blue or purple rarity weapons, a very likely Pro Fishing Rod, gold bars, ammo, and health items. It's one of the most reliable early-game loot sources this season.

2. New Sanctuary Vault

The New Sanctuary vault is inside the New Sanctuary HQ. If you've been to the location, you've probably already spotted the vault door. It's the same spot where the UFO used to be located in a previous season, and there are actually chests sitting right behind the locked door that you can see but can't reach yet.

There's a panel inside the HQ, but interacting with it right now only opens the vortex at the top of the building. There is currently no way to open the vault door itself. If you want this vault open, make sure you're actively playing for Team Foundation and completing their Rivalries.

2. Frigid Fortress Vault

The Frigid Fortress vault works the same way as New Sanctuary, but on the opposite side of the Showdown event. This one is tied to Team Ice King, and the community needs to earn enough points on that side to add the Ice King Keycard to the loot pool. Once that happens, you'll need to track down the relevant boss NPC at Frigid Fortress to grab the keycard and open the vault.

These two vaults are locked for now. Both require keycards that aren't in the loot pool yet. Whichever side completes their Rivalries first gets their vault opened first, so the timing is entirely up to the player base.

Note: We'll keep this article updated as Epic Games adds more vaults to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2.
