Fortnite and Remedy Entertainment are teaming up, and the result is a free skin you can grab without spending a single V-Buck. If you've been keeping tabs on upcoming games or just love adding new cosmetics to your locker, this one is worth paying attention to. Here's the full breakdown of what's going on and how to get Control Resonant skin in Fortnite for free.
What Is the Control Resonant Fortnite Collab?
Control Resonant is the upcoming sequel to Remedy's 2019 hit Control, a third-person action game known for its supernatural setting, strange government facility, and protagonist named Dylan Faden. The game is set to release on September 24th, 2026.
As part of the release, Epic Games has set up a crossover through its Epic Games Store Loyalty Promotion, also known as the Gift-With-Purchase program. Based on everything confirmed so far, that cosmetic is the Dylan Faden skin, most likely in his default look from Control Resonant.

This isn't the first time Epic has done this. Past examples include the Grace Ashcroft skin from Resident Evil Requiem, the Adam Smasher skin from Cyberpunk 2077, and the Meat Boy Sidekick from Super Meat Boy 3D.
How to Get the Control Resonant Skin in Fortnite for Free
Getting the skin comes down to one thing: buying Control Resonant through the Epic Games Store. Here are the steps to follow:
- Open the Epic Games Store and search for Control Resonant in the search bar.
- Click on the game listing and select Pre-Purchase (the Standard Edition is $59.99).
- Complete the purchase using the same Epic account you play Fortnite on. This step is important because if you buy it on a different account, the skin won't show up in your Fortnite locker.
- Once the skin goes live, open Fortnite and check your locker to find it ready to equip.

The Dylan Faden skin won't land in your locker immediately after purchase. Epic hasn't officially shown what the skin looks like yet, and the cosmetic will be added once more details are revealed closer to the game's release date.
What If You Don't Want to Buy the Game?
That's totally fair! Spending $59.99 on a game just for a Fortnite skin isn't something everyone wants to do. The good news is that Epic will add the Dylan Faden skin to the Fortnite Item Shop once Control Resonant officially launches on September 24th, 2026. You'll be able to buy it there with V-Bucks just like any other collab skin.
So you have two paths here. Buy the game and get the skin for free as a bonus, or wait for the Item Shop and spend V-Bucks if you just want the cosmetic. If you were already planning to pick up Control Resonant anyway, the free skin is a great perk on top of it. Which mode are you going to pick?
