What Was Death Star Sabotage?
Death Star Sabotage was the biggest Star Wars event Fortnite has ever done. It ended the whole Galactic Battle story that had been going on for weeks. You literally get to live out the Death Star attack from the movies. When the Galactic Battle mini-season happened, you saw that the Death Star showed up over the island, and Princess Leia needed your help. Your job was to gather allies and blow up this massive space weapon before it destroyed everything. Honestly, being part of this iconic battle was incredible.
The Pre-Event Mini Game
Two hours before the main event, you could play a space battle mini-game. This wasn’t boring waiting around. One team flew X-Wings trying to blow up a Star Destroyer. The other team flew TIE Fighters, trying to defend the Star Destroyer. The whole thing felt like you were literally in the movies.

At first, I got the chance to fly the X-Wing, and it was tough. While trying to blow the ship, the TIE Fighter guys had to protect it. So they tried to eliminate you, and they won by shooting down a total of 50 X-Wings. But, in the next match, the X-Wings pilots won by destroying the bridge and splitting the ship in half.
Fortnite Death Star Sabotage Event Recap
When the real Death Star Sabotage event started, things got crazy. First, you need to pick a Stormtrooper outfit as a disguise and sneak onto the Death Star. Once you got inside, the real fun began. Your first mission was simple: Smash the Death Star’s power things with pickaxes. This was classic Fortnite but with a Star Wars vibe, which was perfect.

Then you need to follow Hope and Jones and go deeper into the ship. However, the Death Star was packed with Stormtroopers, so you had to fight them while X-Wings were fighting outside.

The whole place was chaos, explosions everywhere, laser from the blaster shots flying around, and that amazing Star Wars music playing in the background (it gave me chills the whole time). As a longtime Star Wars fan, hearing those sounds while actually being in the battle was unreal. It’s one thing to watch it in movies, but actually doing it yourself hits differently.

After shooting here and there, finally, the Emperor showed up and took everyone’s blasters away. We were being Force Choked, plus he also attacked us with his Force Lightning. Then a cutscene happened where we had to watch Jones being attacked by the Force Lightning, too, but thankfully, Hope intervened. We rifted away back to the battle royale island as we saw the Death Star explode above us.

After the camera panned out, the cutscene went into an image of Superman overseeing the battle. An end screen shows that Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 will go live in just under six hours.

Why This Event Mattered
Death Star Sabotage wasn’t just another crossover thing in Fortnite. It finished up a whole story that had been building for weeks. Everything with Daigo and the Spirit Realm led up to this massive battle. What made it special was that you weren’t just watching Star Wars happen. You were the hero. Instead of seeing Luke Skywalker blow up the Death Star in a movie, you were the one swinging pickaxes and shooting blasters to make it happen.
Death Star Sabotage proved that Fortnite knows how to do Star Wars right. The space battles, ground fighting, and classic Star Wars moments all came together perfectly. As a fan of both Star Wars and Fortnite, I just want to say thanks to Epic Games – this event had everything I could’ve hoped for.
