Are you trying to get your hands on the Groundmech droid in Fortnite Star Wars Droid Tycoon mode but just can’t seem to find it? Many players have spent a long time waiting at the Jawa Sandcrawler without any luck. However, there are some tricks to get it. Here’s everything you need to know about unlocking the Groundmech in Fortnite Droid Tycoon.

Why You Need the Groundmech in Droid Tycoon

The Groundmech is not only a collectible for your Droidex. This particular droid is required for multiple Rebirth levels, so it’s not something you can skip. You’ll need the Groundmech for the following Rebirth levels:

RebirthRequirementsCredits
Rebirth 4• Groundmech (Basic)
• ARG (Gold)
• B1 Security (Gold)
2.95 Million
Rebirth 6• Groundmech (Gold)
• ARG (Diamond)
• A-LT (diamond)
9.85 Million
Rebirth 9• Groundmech (Rainbow)
• R6 (Gold)
• TRAK-R (Gold)
89 Million

That means you'll need it three separate times as you climb the Rebirth ladder. If you sell yours early, you're going to regret it later.

How to Get the Groundmech in Fortnite Droid Tycoon

The highest chance of finding Groundmech is on the Sandcrawler Conveyor Belt. You buy it with Credits when it appears. The problem is that the spawn rate is very low, especially early on. But there are a few things you can do to improve your chances.

1. Hit Rebirth 3 First

This is the best trick to do first. Once you reach Rebirth 3, the game gives you a bump in how often rare droids like the Groundmech appear on the belt. If you're still on Rebirth 1 or 2, grinding for a Groundmech is going to feel like forever. Push through to Rebirth 3 first, then start hunting.

2. Do Your Daily Missions Every Session

Daily Missions are your most reliable way to earn rare droid blueprints. While getting the Groundmech specifically is not 100% guaranteed, actively working toward it is far better than simply waiting around at the conveyor belt.

3. Keep Your Astromech Droids Busy

Send your Astromech out on launch pad missions, and always pick the highest-tier mission available. Higher-tier missions take longer, but the reward quality is much better, including the Groundmech blueprint.

4. Try a Different Lobby

If you've been grinding the same server for hours with no luck, just leave and join a new match. This resets the Sandcrawler Conveyor Belt seed, which means a fresh set of droids starts cycling through. It's a simple trick, but it works.

As a bonus, lobbies with high-Rebirth players seem to produce rarer spawns more frequently. However, Epic hasn’t confirmed this, so for now, it remains more of a community theory or classic game myth, though it may still be worth trying.

When you finally get the Groundmech, all your hard work will pay off. It’s one of the best credit-generating droids available at that stage of the game, so make sure to put it to work as soon as you unlock it.

If you eventually get droids that out-earn it, move the Groundmech to the rest area, not the sell queue. You'll need a Gold and then a Rainbow version later, and waiting for another one to spawn wastes hours. Good luck finding the Groundmech droid, and happy belated Star Wars Day! Have you also tried other Fortnite Star Wars games? Because they have plenty this time!
