What Is the Jam Track Player in Fortnite?

The Jam Track Player is basically a built-in music player inside Fortnite. When you activate it during a match, your character starts performing a song right there on the island. You can even jam out with other players who also have the feature equipped, turning it into a little in-game band session.

Honestly, it’s not something most players actually use in a match. I’ve never played music in the background either, since I prefer listening for opponents’ footsteps, and it feels like most players are the same. That’s probably why Epic decided to turn it into a quest. If you’re aiming to clear quests and grab some Battle Pass XP, it’s worth trying at least once.

How to Set Up Jam Tracks Before Your Match

Before you can use the Jam Track Player in a match, you need to make sure you actually have a Jam Track equipped. Here is how to do that from the lobby:

  1. Go to your Locker from the main menu and look for the Music icon.
  2. From there, you can add up to 8 Jam Tracks to your wheel at a time.

If you do not own any Jam Tracks, do not worry. Head to the Featured section and check the daily free rotation. Epic regularly offers free Jam Tracks for players to try out. You can also earn them through the Battle Pass or the Music Pass, or buy them directly from the Item Shop using V-Bucks.

How to Use the Jam Track Player in Fortnite

Once you have a Jam Track ready, here is how to actually use it during a match:

  1. Land somewhere on the map after you jump from the Battle Bus, ideally a quieter POI with fewer enemies around.
  2. Once you are on the ground, open your Emote Wheel by holding Down on the D-Pad (controller) or pressing B (keyboard/PC).
  3. Scroll over to the Jam Tracks category and highlight the Jam Track you want to play.

The song will automatically play in the background when you let go of the button. You only need to perform the Jam Track for one second. The moment it kicks in, a notification will pop up on the side of your screen confirming that you have completed the Use the Jam Track Player quest.

Using the Jam Track Player in Fortnite takes less than a minute. Complete this quest, grab your XP, and keep climbing that Showdown Battle Pass.
