Fortnite is taking us back to where it all started with Fortnite OG as a permanent game mode. If you’re ready to relive the early days of Fortnite or check them out for the first time, here’s everything you need to know about this epic throwback. Let’s check all the weapons, locations, and features coming to Fortnite OG Chapter 1.

When Does the Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Launch?

Fortnite OG Chapter 1 is officially back starting December 6th, 2024, at 9 AM Eastern Time (2 PM UTC), and this time, it’s here to stay as a permanent game mode. Season 1 runs until January 31st, 2025, so there’s plenty of time to drop into the classic map, attack opponents with returning weapons, relive those early Battle Bus vibes, and see if you’ve still got it.

In this permanent OG mode, you’ll have access to several game modes right from the start, including:

  • Solo Battle Royale
  • Squad Battle Royale
  • Zero Build
  • Ranked mode (coming later in the season)

All Classic Weapons are Back in Fortnite OG Chapter 1

Dropping into Fortnite OG Chapter 1 feels like stepping into a time machine, and the loot pool is absolute perfection. All the classic weapons from 2017 are back, so get ready to grab your old favorites when you drop onto the island:

Weapon Loot Pool

  • Assault Rifle and its Burst and Scoped variants
  • Pump and Tactical Shotguns
  • Standard Pistol and Revolver
  • Submachine Gun and Tactical SMG
  • Bolt-action and Semi-Auto Sniper Rifles
  • Grenade and Rocket Launchers

Trap and Equipment Loot Pool

  • Damage Trap
  • Ceiling Zapper
  • Wall Dynamo
  • Classic healing items like Shield Potions and Med Kits

The Damage Trap, Ceiling Zapper, and Wall Dynamo are back to make every building you walk into feel like a potential death trap.

The Original Map Returns

Not only weapons, the OG map is also back, bringing all the nostalgia with it. Every classic landing spot is here, including:

  • Pleasant Park
  • Retail Row
  • Dusty Depot
  • Greasy Grove
  • Wailing Woods
  • Tomato Town

It’s all exactly how you remember it, ready for you to explore and dominate like the old days. If you’re more of a Zero Build player, Epic’s got you covered too. They’ve added modern touches like zip lines and ascenders to help you navigate the map without building mechanics.

Modern Features Meet Classic Gameplay

While Fortnite OG is bringing back the 2017 vibes, some modern features are sticking around to keep things smooth. You will get all the current building mechanics. Sprinting and sliding will also be there to make getting around way easier than it used to be.

Healing while you’re on the move will remain a feature in this OG mode, so you don’t need to find cover every time you use Shield Potion or Med Kit. Additionally, Reboot Vans will help you revive your squad members, giving your team another shot at Victory Royale when things don’t go as planned.

The New OG Pass is Coming to Fortnite

What is Fortnite OG Pass?

A new 45-tier battle pass called the OG Pass is also available for purchase packed with fresh rewards. If you buy this pass, you will unlock three new character outfits:

All these outfits will have alternative styles to mix things up. Plus, you will also score some classic-inspired cosmetics with a modern twist. The best part? You can level up the pass by playing any Fortnite mode, so whether you are chasing Victory Royales or just having fun playing around, you will always make progress. Starting December 6, you can join in and experience the island where the battle royale craze first took off seven years ago.
