Fortnite is finally here on Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s way better than before. If you’ve been waiting for smooth gameplay and better graphics, this is your moment. The game will be launched on June 5th, 2025, with some awesome upgrades that make it feel like a whole new experience.

What’s New and Improved in Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2

The biggest change you’ll notice is the 60 FPS gameplay. No more choppy movements or laggy fights. Everything feels smooth and responsive now. The graphics got a major boost, too. You will see way more detail in textures, shadows, and especially the water effects.

Your view distance is much better now. You can spot enemies and items from much farther away, which gives you a real advantage in battles. Plus, clothing physics are finally working, so your character’s outfit will move naturally instead of looking stiff.

Now let’s talk about graphics. When you are playing docked to your TV, you will get 2176×1224 resolution, so it will look amazing on bigger screens. Even in handheld mode, you will get 1600×900 resolution, which is way sharper than the original Switch version. The technical stuff includes a full desktop renderer, better geometry, and improved lighting effects. If you care about graphics, you will love these changes.

The Replay system is finally here, too. You can record your best matches and watch them from different angles. Use the Capture button to save video clips of your favorite moments.

Mouse Controls Coming Soon to Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2

Here’s something cool: Starting June 7th, you can use your Joy-Con 2 controllers as a mouse. This works in all Battle Royale modes, including Zero Build, Team Rumble, Reload, and Fortnite OG.

To set this up, go to Settings in Fortnite, then the Mouse tab, and pick which controller you want to use. If you choose left-handed controls, turn on the “Swap Movement Thumbstick” option too.

Free Emote for Early Players

Log in before March 31st, 2026, and you will get the Wishing Star Emote for free. It’s a fun little animation where you grab a shooting star and throw it back. After March 2026, you will have to buy it from the Item Shop if you want it.
