Fortnite Reload is getting a brand-new map called Elite Stronghold. If you play Reload regularly, or just want to try something other than Battle Royale, this is something you'll want to pay attention to. Epic Games just announced the update, and there's actually a way to get in before everyone else. Here's everything you need to know about it.
What Is Fortnite Reload Elite Stronghold Map?
Elite Stronghold is a new map built specifically for Fortnite Reload mode. It's tied to the Elites storyline and the Last Reality, which is the main overarching threat in Chapter 7 Season 2. Characters like Daigo, Jules, and Zadie are central to the whole thing, and the map's theme reflects their world.
It's also launching alongside Act 2 of the Showdown Rivalry, so there's a bigger story context here.
When Does Fortnite Reload Elite Stronghold Release?
Epic Games has officially confirmed that the Elite Stronghold map will roll out on Monday, April 20th, 2026. While the exact release time hasn’t been confirmed, based on previous updates, the game should be accessible again around 9 AM ET. We also have the exact countdown timer for the Elite Stronghold mode, so you know exactly when to sign in to the game.
How to Get Early Access
What’s exciting is that you can actually get early access to the new map, although you’ll need to do a bit of work for it. You can jump into Elite Stronghold two days early on Saturday, April 18th, but only if you've earned Elite Rank or higher in Ranked Reload. The early access window runs from 10 AM to 3 PM PT. That's your shot to explore the map before the rest of the playerbase floods in.

If you're not at Elite Rank yet, you still have a few days to push. Ranked Reload rewards consistent play, so focus on surviving longer and securing kills where it counts. Even if you just miss the cutoff, the map fully opens to everyone on April 20 anyway.
Elite Stronghold Test Cups

Moreover, from April 21st to 24th, Epic is also running Elite Stronghold Test Cups. It's a tournament-style match on the new map that anyone can join, regardless of rank. This is a great chance to test your skills in a competitive setting right after launch. If you're into Fortnite ranked play, you should try this one out, too!
New Weapons Coming With the Update
Act 2 also brings new weapons to the loot pool. Here's what we can spot based on the key art Epic dropped,
- Zadie is carrying what looks like an energy SMG.
- Jules has a marksman rifle.
- Daigo's weapon actually appears to fire mini Kevin the Cube.
These weapons will definitely be connected to Act 2 Showdown Rivalry milestones. So, you'll need to complete challenges to unlock or access them, just like you unlock weapons from the first act, like the Foundation's Rift Rifle, Seven Power Gloves, and Ice King's Gauntlets. They're expected to land in both main Battle Royale and Reload loot pools.
If you have time before April 18 and are already playing Ranked anyway, you should push for that Elite rank. The early access window is short, but being ahead of the curve is always worth it.
