Epic Games just dropped a surprise April Fools update. One of the biggest additions is Rideable Llamas in Fortnite. Yes, you heard it right. You can now hop on a Llama and ride it around the island. Here's everything you need to know about finding them, riding them, and getting the most out of them.
What Is the Llamanomaly?
You won't find Rideable Llamas just sitting around the map like a regular vehicle. They only show up when a special Rift Anomaly called the Llamanomaly is active during your match.

The Llamanomaly is a new event. This one is not the same as the regular Rift Anomaly that you need to stabilize for quests. When this Llamanomaly triggers, a group of Rideable Llamas spawns at multiple spots across the Chapter 7 Season 2 map. It's random, so it won't happen in every single match.
How to Find Rideable Llamas in Fortnite
Once the Llamanomaly is active in your match, tracking down a Llama is pretty simple. Here's what to look for:
- Open your mini-map, and you'll see small Llama icons scattered across the island. These marks show exactly where the Llamas have spawned.
- As you get closer to one, a White Llama Icon will appear on your screen as a visual cue, letting you know the Llama is right nearby.
Since the Llamanomaly is random, there's a chance you won't see it in every game. If you really want to ride a Llama, just keep queuing up and keep an eye on the Rift Anomaly events that pop up mid-match. And mind you, these llamas are not staying in one place. They keep on moving. So if you find one, you might even need to run to catch them.
How to Ride the Llamas in Fortnite
Once you're next to a Rideable Llama, press the Interact button to hop on it. Use your movement keys to steer.
The Taming Meter
While you're riding, you'll notice a Taming Llama meter filling up on top of your screen. As the meter fills, the Llama will start dropping loot pool items on the ground as it moves. Other players nearby can actually pick up that loot too, so it's a fun team mechanic if you're playing with friends.

Once the meter is completely full, the Llama turns gold, and you'll get up to 350 Gold Bars and a Chug Jug just for sticking with the ride.
Riding After Taming
You can continue riding the Llama even after you have tamed it fully into gold. However, it is important to remember that the Llama has a limited health pool of 900, which means you have to be careful when riding it during a fight.

You can still use weapons like Finger Guns while riding the Llama, so put its speed to good use to maneuver around your enemies. Here's a fun bonus: you can actually stack another player on top of you while riding a Llama.
Loot Rewards
If you are not in the mood to ride a Llama, you can just shoot at it. If a Llama takes enough hits, it gets knocked down and starts dropping ammo on the ground, just like a regular Loot Llama.

However, Fortnite dev has hinted that Rideable Llamas and other April Fools mechanics could become permanent features in Chapter 7 Season 2 if enough players enjoy them. So if you want to make sure Llama riding sticks around, go out there and ride as many as you can. Player feedback could literally decide whether this becomes a permanent part of the game.
