How to Get Sprite Dust in Fortnite
Sprite Dust is earned by extracting Sprites at an Extraction Station. Here is how the process works:
- Find a Sprite during your match from floor loot or Sprite Chests and equip it
- Locate an Extraction Station on the map
- Interact with the station and call the Extraction Crate
- Wait a moment for the crate to arrive then place your Sprite inside
- The crate closes and your Sprite is sent to your collection, awarding you Sprite Dust in return
Each Sprite you extract gives you 500 Sprite Dust. If you extract multiple Sprites in one go you earn 500 per Sprite, so extracting three at once gives you 1,500 Sprite Dust total. The process is the same regardless of how many you put in at once, so it is always worth loading up the crate with everything you have collected rather than extracting one at a time.
It is worth noting that there was a recent bug where players were losing Sprite Dust when spectating a squadmate and then rebooting back into the match. Epic has since confirmed the issue has been fixed. To make up for the lost progress, they extended the Mastery Monday event by an additional 24 hours, giving players extra time to earn Sprite Dust and Sprite XP. If you were affected by the bug during that window, the extended event was the compensation for what you missed out on.
What Can You Spend Sprite Dust On
Sprite Dust has several uses at Extraction Stations throughout the season:
- Restore a lost Sprite if you die without extracting it
- Locate Sprites on the map
- Upgrade weapons
- Claim a daily 20,000 XP reward bundled with a Portable Extractor
The restoration cost varies depending on the rarity of the Sprite you lost:

Rare Sprites are cheap to restore so do not stress too much about losing them. The easiest way to do that is simply extracting every Sprite you find rather than holding onto them and risking losing progress if you get eliminated.
