If you've ever wanted to build your own Star Wars world inside Fortnite, now you actually can. Epic Games has rolled out a massive set of Star Wars tools for creators, and it's one of the biggest IP releases they've ever done. Here’s everything you need to know about the Fortnite Star Wars tools.
What Are the Fortnite Star Wars Creator Tools?
The Fortnite Star Wars tools are a set of assets, templates, and gameplay features that let you build Star Wars-themed islands inside Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative. Lightsabers, TIE Fighters, Darth Vader, Tatooine, all of it is now available for you to use in your own custom maps.
Starting May 1st, 2026, you can publish your Star Wars island for everyone to play. There's even a dedicated Star Wars Game Collection page launching on Discover, so real players can find your creation.
How to Use the Star Wars Tools in Fortnite
Starter Islands and Templates
You don't have to build from scratch. There are four UEFN starter islands already set up for you, each based on a different Star Wars location:
- Space
- Hoth
- Tatooine
- Nevarro

There are also two flat grid islands if you prefer to build everything yourself from the ground up in Fortnite Creative.
Ready-to-Use Templates
- Lightsabers and Force Powers Template - Teaches you how to customize lightsabers and set up Force powers like Push, Heal, and Mind Trick.
- Team Conquest Template - Set on Tatooine and is built for big battles. It uses a Hero device and advanced spawning systems, so it works well if you're making a large-scale PvP experience.
- Narrative and Roleplaying Template - Set inside a Tatooine cantina, this one focuses on story and NPC conversations.

Characters and Creatures
You get access to some of the most iconic Star Wars characters ever:
- Luke Skywalker
- Darth Vader
- Boba Fett
- Chewbacca
- The Mandalorian
- Princess Leia
- Rey
- Emperor Palpatine
- Stormtroopers
- Jawas
- Rebel Alliance soldiers
- Rideable Tauntauns

Weapons
There are over 25 Star Wars weapons to choose from, including:
- Character-specific lightsabers (Luke, Rey, Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, and more)
- Blasters and the iconic Wookiee Bowcaster
- Turbolasers and DF.9 Turrets for base defense setups
Vehicles
Players can fly N-1 Starfighters, X-wings, and TIE Fighters, and the aerial vehicles now have secondary fire options, which is a nice upgrade from their Battle Royale versions. If you want ground combat, AATs are also available. You can tune and customize all vehicles through their Spawner devices.
Music and Sound Effects
You can use licensed Star Wars music on your island, including the Main Theme, The Imperial March, and The Cantina Band. On top of that, over 230 sound effects are now available, from lightsaber hums to Jawa vocalizations, so your island can feel and sound like the real thing.
How to Publish Your Star Wars Island
Before you can go live, here's what you need to do:
- You must be enrolled in the Fortnite Developer Program.
- You need to opt in to the Star Wars terms and conditions in the Creator Portal.
- 20% of your engagement payout goes to The Walt Disney Company, which is the licensing cost of using Star Wars content.
- Your island cannot include in-island transactions, and all islands must follow the Star Wars Brand Rules.
You can also convert an existing island into a Star Wars one directly inside the UEFN Editor, so you don't have to start over if you already have something built.
This feature comes at an interesting time. Disney, which owns Star Wars, already owns a small part of Epic Games after putting in $1.5 billion. There are also rumors that some people at Disney want to fully buy the company. However, Tim Sweeney still has full control and hasn’t shown any interest in selling. Let's see how these collaborations will go in the future.
That’s everything you need to know about the Star Wars tools in Fortnite. If you've been waiting for a reason to start building in UEFN or Fortnite Creative, this is your time. May the force be with you!
