The good news is that every collectible is available from the beginning of the game. You do not need story progression, unlocks, or region access to start collecting them.

Regional Mascots

Regional Mascots

Regional Mascots are physical objects hidden throughout Japan that players can destroy by driving directly through them.

These mascots appear as purple face icons on the minimap once players get close enough. Many are placed near roads, villages, tourist areas, mountain routes, and hidden side paths.

Some mascots are easy to spot, while others are tucked away behind buildings, forests, or off-road areas.

Bonus Boards

Bonus Board

Bonus Boards are breakable XP boards spread across the open world. These appear as purple H icons on the minimap when nearby.

Some boards are located directly beside roads, while higher-value boards are hidden on rooftops, cliffs, construction sites, and elevated structures that require jumps or ramps to reach.

How to Destroy Collectibles

Destroying collectibles is extremely simple.

Players only need to drive into a Regional Mascot or Bonus Board at speed to break it. There are no special requirements, no specific car classes, and no upgrades needed.

Once destroyed, the collectible permanently stays completed on your save file.

Important Tip: Completed collectibles remain visible on the map as grayed-out icons. This makes it much easier to track what you have already collected and what remains unfinished. Using the map filter to hide races and other activities can make collectible hunting much easier later in the game.

How to Find All Collectibles

There are two main ways players can locate all 400 collectibles.

Option 1: Buy the Treasure Map

The in-game Treasure Map costs $2.99 and instantly reveals all collectible locations on the map.

This includes:

For players aiming for 100% completion, this is easily the fastest and most convenient method.

The Treasure Map becomes even more useful if you also plan on collecting hidden cars and Barn Finds later.

Option 2: Use a Community Map

Players who do not want to spend money can still use community-made maps that show every collectible location across Japan.

Several full maps already document all 400 collectible positions, allowing players to clear regions one by one without needing the Treasure Map.

This method takes longer but works perfectly fine for completion runs.

Fast Travel and Navigation Tips

Collecting 400 items across Japan can take a while, but Forza Horizon 6 includes several features that make the process much easier.

Fast Travel: Once unlocked, players can fast travel directly near collectibles through the map screen. This saves a huge amount of time later in the hunt.

Autodrive: Players can also activate Autodrive by pressing:

  • Down + Left on the D-pad

Autodrive automatically drives your car to the selected destination while you sit back and relax. This becomes extremely useful when hunting collectibles in distant mountain regions or remote coastal roads.

Why Some Collectibles Don’t Appear

One important thing to remember is that collectibles only appear on the minimap when players are physically close enough to them.

If you are not using the Treasure Map or a community guide, you will need to manually explore regions to reveal collectible icons.

This means driving through roads, forests, mountain routes, industrial areas, and hidden side paths to trigger nearby markers.

All Collectible Achievements

Collecting every mascot and Bonus Board unlocks two achievements in Forza Horizon 6.

Progress for each collectible category is tracked separately, so players can complete one set before the other.

There are no partial rewards, meaning players must collect all 200 items in each category to unlock the achievements.

Best Tips for Collectible Hunting

  • Filter Your Map: Use the in-game map filters to display only collectible icons. Removing race events and other markers makes it much easier to spot missing collectibles.
  • Clear One Region at a Time: Trying to hunt collectibles randomly across Japan wastes a lot of time. Instead, focus on completely clearing one region before moving to the next.
  • Use a Fast Car: Almost any vehicle works for collectibles, but faster cars make traveling between locations much quicker. For mountain areas and hidden off-road paths, rally cars and SUVs can also help.
  • Watch for Grayed-Out Icons: Completed collectibles stay visible as gray icons. If an icon is still purple, it means you have not collected it yet.
  • Combine Collectibles with Exploration: One of the best ways to collect everything naturally is by combining collectible hunting with other activities, like:

This makes progression feel much smoother instead of turning collectibles into a grind.

Are Collectibles Worth Completing?

Absolutely. Besides the achievements, collectibles encourage players to fully explore Japan’s massive open world. Many hidden collectibles lead players to scenic roads, mountain shortcuts, hidden ramps, rooftops, temples, industrial zones, and secret areas they might otherwise never discover.

Collectible hunting also pairs perfectly with XP farming and the Discover Japan progression.
