Credits are the backbone of everything in Forza Horizon 6 (review). The cars you want, the houses that give you bonuses, the upgrades that make your vehicles competitive; all of it costs money. The game gives you a decent starting amount, but that runs out faster than you expect once you start eyeing the more expensive parts of the Auto Show. Here are the most effective ways to build up your credit in Forza Horizon 6 without grinding for hours on end.

Before You Start Grinding, Do This First

A lot of players jump straight into racing and wonder why their credit balance barely moves. The reason is usually that they are leaving multipliers on the table before a single race even starts. Spending ten minutes sorting these things out before you do anything else (like looking for easter eggs) will make every hour of play after that more profitable. Go check the beginner's guide first. We will wait for you to return.

The first thing to do is check your Car Mastery trees on whatever cars you own in the garage (customization guide), especially any Forza Edition, barn find, or treasure cars. Some of these have instant credit rewards sitting in the tree that you can unlock right away without doing anything special. It is essentially free money that many players never collect simply because they never look.

The second thing is to head straight for the Hakusan Mountain Lodge as your first major purchase. Yes, 635,000 credits feels like a lot early on, but this house gives you a permanent 10% bonus on everything you earn going forward. The sooner you buy it, the sooner that bonus starts compounding across every race, delivery, and farming session you do. Delaying this purchase is one of the most common and most costly mistakes new players make.

If you have the VIP Membership through the Premium Edition (breakdown of all editions), you get a 2x credit boost as a permanent benefit alongside a weekly Super Wheelspin. This makes every race, delivery, and farming session significantly more profitable without changing anything about how you play. However, buying it or not is completely up to your choice. It is not mandatory.

Turn Off Assists

This is the single easiest change you can make right now that will immediately increase every credit payout you earn. The game rewards you with a percentage bonus on all credits based on how you have your settings configured, and those bonuses stack together.

Turning off stability control and traction control (controls guide) each add 10% bonus credits. Switching to manual shifting and disabling anti-lock braking each adds another 15%. On top of that, every step up in drivatar difficulty adds more x% of credits. You do not have to jump straight to the hardest setting, but nudging the difficulty up to where you are still winning consistently will pay off over time. The key is finding a setting where you are competitive without losing races, since finishing lower down the order cuts into your earnings regardless of bonuses.

Explore the Map Thoroughly

A lot of players underestimate how much money is sitting in the open world waiting to be collected. Driving down new roads, discovering landmarks, smashing through XP boards, and uncovering new regions all generate credits passively as you play. Mascots are another easy source of income that most players ignore after the first hour. Each one you smash through pays 5,000 credits.

The Discover Japan journal challenges are also worth checking regularly. Many milestones pay out large credit amounts, and you will hit many of them naturally just by playing the game. Checking which milestones you are close to and targeting them specifically is one of the more efficient ways to pick up large credit chunks without dedicating extra time to grinding.

Do the Food Delivery Missions

The delivery missions based in Tokyo City are one of the most underrated credit sources in the early game. They are quick, they do not require any specific car class to get started, and the payout scales with how well you perform each run. Running these regularly in the early hours gives you a solid credit foundation before races start paying out bigger amounts.

Use the Auction House to Clear Your Garage

Wheel spins, race rewards, and progression unlocks will fill your garage with cars you will never actually drive. Instead of letting them sit there, put them to work. Listing unwanted vehicles for sale on the Auction House costs you nothing and can return a surprising amount of credits, especially for rarer cars that other players are actively searching for. However, be careful and don't end up selling your fastest cars.

The trick is pricing them sensibly. Search for the same car before listing yours to see what others are charging, and set your buyout slightly below that to attract buyers quickly. Common cars need a more competitive price to move, while limited or event-locked vehicles can be listed higher since supply is naturally lower.

AFK Farm With Auto Drive

This is the method for players who want credits to accumulate without actively playing. The Auto Drive feature lets the game take control of your car during Event Lab races, and with the right setup, it will just keep driving laps and earning credits while you do something else entirely. The basic setup involves finding a long circuit in Event Lab, enabling full assists so Auto Drive can navigate cleanly, and then leaving it running.

One important thing to keep in mind when AFK farming. The game will pause and return to the menu if it detects no inputs for a set period. Checking in occasionally and moving the camera is enough to prevent this from happening. For more FH6 guides on topics like Italian Passion and Forza Edition cars, check out our wiki.
