Forza Horizon 6 is coming really soon, and Playground Games has finally laid out exactly how the game will run on Xbox consoles. There is a mode for fans who care a lot about sharp visuals, and on the other side, there is also one for fans who love smooth gameplay. Here's everything you need to know about Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Series X|S graphics modes before you hit the road in Japan.
Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Series X|S Graphics Modes
Every version of Forza Horizon 6 on Xbox gives you two options when it comes to how the game looks and runs. You are essentially choosing between two things: Prettier graphics or a smoother frame rate.
Xbox Series X Graphics Mode
On the Xbox Series X, Quality mode locks the game at 4K resolution and 30fps. Imagine the gameplay you see in the trailer, but every car, every street in Tokyo, every rain puddle is now rendered at the highest possible detail. It's very stunning to look at, but the 30fps cap means things will feel a little less responsive compared to the other option.
Performance mode on the Series X targets 4K at 60fps. To keep that 60fps locked, the resolution scales dynamically. The game might drop slightly below true 4K in busy moments, but you probably won't notice. What you will notice is how much smoother racing feels. For competitive play or fast-paced event types, this is likely the better pick.
Xbox Series S Graphics Mode
The Series S is less powerful, so the numbers are a bit lower, but you still get both modes. The Quality mode locks the game at 1440p resolution and 30fps, while the Performance mode gives you 1080p resolution and 60fps.

Both modes on the Series S use dynamic resolution scaling. So the game adjusts by itself to keep your chosen frame rate as stable as possible. It's a smart trade-off that keeps the experience feeling consistent.
Which Forza Horizon 6 Graphics Mode Should You Pick?
If you're someone who loves sitting back and appreciating the scenery, of course, the Quality mode is the one you need to pick. The game's lighting, car reflections, and open-world environments will look their best at 30fps in 4K.
But if you're racing hard, chasing rivals, or doing anything that requires fast reactions, Performance mode is the smarter choice. The jump from 30fps to 60fps makes a real difference in how responsive your car feels, especially in tight corners or during showdown events.
For most players, Performance mode will probably win out in day-to-day play. You can always switch between the two in the settings whenever you want.
The game launches on May 19, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X|S, with Premium Edition early access starting May 15. A PS5 version is also on the way later this year. With over 550 cars at launch and nine radio stations featuring the biggest soundtrack in Horizon history, there's a lot waiting for you when you finally hit the streets of Tokyo.
