Galaxy S25 Edge Vs iPhone 17 Air: 5 Reasons Why Samsung Has The Edge

Samsung has finally unveiled its much-awaited Galaxy S25 Edge. It is the slimmest phone from Samsung to date, and it will compete directly with the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Air. With both companies obsessed with making thin phones, it’s only natural to compare both offerings. While Apple’s upcoming iPhone will be thinner than the S25 Edge, it makes some major compromises in another area. Here’s a comparison between the iPhone 17 Air vs the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge based on what we know.

Why Samsung Is the Better Thinner Phone

1. Two Cameras Are Better Than One

Why Are Slim Phones Making A Comeback

Let’s start with the obvious: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has a dual camera setup compared to the Apple iPhone 17, which only has a single camera. Galaxy S25 Edge has a clear advantage with two lenses. It’s hard to use a phone with a single camera lens in this day and age, especially one that doesn’t have an ultrawide-angle sensor.

Although there is no telephoto lens on the S25 Edge, it still has a good dual camera setup here. You get a 200-megapixel primary lens similar to the S25 Ultra, apart from a 12-megapixel ultrawide angle sensor. Compared to the rumored single 48-megapixel lens on the iPhone 17 Air.

2. Samsung Ecosystem Is Catching Up To Apple

Samsung Ecosystem

Many users prefer to buy an Apple product due to the tight ecosystem integration Apple offers. Ask any prolific fan, and they will start talking about how seamlessly the whole ecosystem works. However, Samsung isn’t far behind, and the company has worked with Microsoft to mirror the same benefits on Windows.

From sending files to receiving phone calls, Samsung’s ecosystem is equally good, if not better than Apple’s. Since the South Korean giant also has its lineup of tablets and smartwatches, you won’t be missing out on much. Unlike Apple, these accessories are available across multiple points os you don’t have to spend a ton here.

3. Galaxy AI Works Out Of The Box, Unlike Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence hasn’t been able to live up to the hype it promised. Now caught in litigation, the much-awaited feature has turned into a dumpster fire. From revamped Siri to cross-app functionality and contextual awareness, there are a lot of promised Apple Intelligence features that are yet to be released. Galaxy AI, on the other hand, is very useful and works out of the box. Whether it’s Magic Eraser, Now Bar, Now Brief, Audio Eraser, Auto Trim, or Generative Edit, all of them work flawlessly. If you have seen those Apple Clean Up vs Magic Eraser, then you already know what I am talking about. With seven years of software updates and the latest Snapdrag, it’s another win for Samsung here.

4. Sharper Screen And Durable Build

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, despite having a bigger 3,900mAh battery, is super slim at just 5.85mm. While the iPhone 17 Air is slimmer at 5.65mm than Samsung’s phone, it has a smaller battery. Furthermore, S25 Edge has a more durable build with an IP68 rating and a Titanium Finish. There’s also new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 with better protection. The iPhone 17 Air, on the other hand, has Ceramic Shield glass, but there are no details about the integrity of the device. Another advantage of the S25 Edge is a sharper Quad HD+ AMOLED display, which is sharper than the Full-HD+ panel on the iPhone.

5. Bigger Battery and Faster Charging

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has a bigger battery than the iPhone 17 Air. With Apple planning to introduce charging cases for the upcoming iPhone, it’s no surprise that users will suffer from battery anxiety. Previous reports suggest that Apple is planning to release a battery case for the iPhone 17 Air. This will reportedly compensate for the smaller battery inside the phone. On the other hand, the S25 Edge doesn’t have any extraordinary battery size but still has a sizeable 3,900mAh capacity. While Apple could rely on optimization to improve the battery backup, it will still fall behind the S25 Edge.
