Samsung launched its One UI 7 beta update in December 2024 with major changes. Now, Samsung’s Good Lock module is receiving a refreshed design and enhanced customization options. The Home Up module is now directly integrated into the UI, with new add-ons and the ability to add any image to your S Pen Air command icon.
This update will be rolled out globally via the Google Play Store.
Enhanced Good Lock Modules on One UI 7
Good Lock is Samsung’s customization suite that allows users to personalize their Galaxy devices extensively. It includes several modules and apps for adjusting everything from the home screen layout and quick settings to navigation, eliminating the need for third-party apps. Here are all the exciting new updates coming with Samsung Good Lock and One UI 7:
1. LockStar
LockStar is a module designed to enhance lock screen customization, allowing you to personalize lock screen elements like clock styles, widgets, and shortcuts.
With a new update, Samsung is addressing a long-standing issue with lock screen customization. Previously, users had to navigate through separate menus to tweak their lock screens, which felt clunky and time-consuming. With the latest update, LockStar now integrates directly into the lock screen editor.
This means you can customize elements like clock styles, widget placements, and shortcuts right where you see them, without jumping between different sections of the app.
2. Pentastic
Pentastic lets you customize your S Pen with unique Air Command menus, pointer styles, sound effects, and double-tap shortcuts. This update gives S Pen users an extra layer of customization by allowing them to replace the default Air Command icon with any image—a favorite photo, a logo, or a simple design.
How to Customize:
- Open Good Lock and go to Pentastic.
- Select “Air Command Icon.”
- Upload your image.
3. Game Booster Plus
The Game Booster Plus module optimizes your phone for gaming by managing performance, blocking distractions, and offering game-specific settings.
Samsung has integrated the Game Booster+ feature into Good Lock, giving gamers more control and options to enhance their experience. This update focuses on making your games smoother and more enjoyable while providing tools for better customization.
- Change Game Categories: Previously, some apps were not recognized as games and didn’t benefit from game-related optimizations. With this update, you can manually categorize any app as a game. This means better performance and features like enhanced graphics and battery optimization can now be applied to any app you consider a game.
- Gamepad Key Remapping: You can now remap the buttons on your game controller to match your preferences. For example, if a specific button feels inconvenient for certain moves or actions in a game, you can assign its function to another button that’s easier to reach. This is particularly helpful for fast-paced games where quick actions matter.
- GPU Settings: The new settings let you adjust GPU performance to suit your needs. If you’re playing a game with frequent screen rotations, you can reduce the load on the GPU to ensure smoother transitions. For those who prioritize visuals, you can tweak texture quality to enhance the graphics, making the game look more detailed and immersive.
4. Camera Assistant
Camera Assistant gives you advanced camera controls and customizations beyond the default settings. It provides fine-tuned options for photo and video capture on Galaxy devices.
With the new Camera Assistant update, you can now automatically save your videos to an external storage device connected via the USB-C port. This feature works across various camera modes, including Video, Pro Video, Portrait Video, Slow Motion, and Hyperlapse.
This is particularly beneficial for users who need more storage space or wish to offload videos while keeping their device storage free.
5. Home Up
Home Up lets you deeply customize your home screen layout, app drawer, and task changer interface. It provides granular control over the look and feel of your phone’s user interface. With One UI 7, Home Up is even easier to use. You can now adjust its settings directly within the One UI Home app, eliminating the need to open a separate Home Up app. This makes customization faster and more intuitive.
- Free Home Item Placement: Place widgets, apps, or shortcuts freely on your home screen without being restricted to a grid layout. Create unique designs that suit your preferences. To enable this, go to Home Up settings and toggle on “Free Placement.”
- Home Screen Stickers: Add a personal touch to your home screen with new stickers. Choose from a variety of stickers to decorate your screen. Access this by selecting the sticker option in your home screen customization menu.
- Gesture Animation Tuning and Multi-Finger Gestures: Customize the look and feel of gestures by adjusting animation speed and style. You can also use multiple fingers to perform gestures anywhere on the screen. For example, swipe with two fingers to open the app drawer or a specific feature.
- Hide Favorites: Create a cleaner home screen by hiding the favorites bar. This provides more space for other items or widgets. Toggle this feature in the Home Up settings under “Favorites.”
- Custom Folders and Free Placement of App Buttons: Folder customization has been improved, allowing you to adjust folder icon sizes and add pop-ups. You can now also freely place app buttons within folders for more control over organization.
- Edge Panel Customization: View more items in the Edge panel and scroll through the recent apps section more easily. To adjust this, go to Edge Panel settings under Home Up and explore the new options for item arrangement.
- Taskbar Customization (For Foldable and Tablet Devices): Foldable and tablet users can further customize the taskbar. Rearrange app icons and add more shortcuts to match your workflow. Access this in the Taskbar settings under Home Up.
6. Routine Gallery
Routine Gallery, found in the Routines+ Good Lock module, lets you discover, share, and apply pre-made automation routines created by other Samsung users.
The new feature provides a space for Galaxy users to share and explore routines available in Mode & Routines or Routines+. You can discover creative automations made by others, edit them to fit your needs, and showcase your own routines for the community to use.
For example, you might find a morning routine that dims the lights, plays your favorite playlist, and opens your calendar app. You can then tweak it to match your schedule perfectly.
7. Theme Park
Theme Park allows you to create custom themes for your Galaxy device based on your chosen wallpaper. Personalize colors, icons, keyboard design, and more, giving your phone’s interface a unique look and feel. This Theme Park update provides even more ways to personalize your device:
- Folder Icon Support: Align folder icon shapes with your icon packs for a cohesive design across your home screen.
- Custom App Icon Shapes: Go beyond default options and use any image to create unique app icon shapes for unparalleled customization.
- Expanded Sticker and Wallpaper Picker: A wider selection of stickers and wallpapers lets you decorate your device with more creativity and personal flair.
8. Wonderland
Wonderland lets you create custom animated wallpapers with layered effects and motion. Design unique, dynamic backgrounds for your home and lock screens.
Samsung’s Wonderland app now lets you apply these dynamic wallpapers separately to the lock screen or home screen, giving you more control over your phone’s look. This is helpful for those who want customized visuals for specific screens.
Additionally, text color visibility has been improved. App names and the status bar automatically adjust their colors to the main color of the background, ensuring everything remains easy to read.
9. MultiStar
MultiStar enhances multitasking, particularly on foldable devices, by offering advanced multi-window controls and customizations.
This MultiStar update provides a convenient way to access the Cover Launcher directly from the “Labs” menu on your Flip device. This enhances the usability of the cover screen, allowing you to interact with your device more effectively without fully unfolding it.
This update makes multitasking smoother and more practical for foldable device users.
10. Quickstar
QuickStar focuses on customizing the Quick Settings panel and status bar. It lets you change the panel’s appearance, manage notification behavior, and control status bar icon visibility.
With the new QuickStar update, you can hide the multi-user icon from the lock screen. This is useful for those who share their phone, as it keeps the lock screen uncluttered and private. You can easily toggle this option off in the settings.
These updates make One UI 7 even more customizable—in fact, one of the most feature-rich and customizable Android skins available. As an enthusiast myself, I appreciate Samsung continuing to support and enhance these handy Good Lock modules. The new Good Lock updates will be available to One UI 7 users via the Google Play Store soon.
