Moreover, the lore behind these cosmetics has also been disclosed and connects them to the elusive Five Sinners of Khaenri’ah.
Read on to learn more about how to get weapon skins in Genshin Impact version 5.7 and the lore behind their existence.

New Genshin Impact Weapon Skins to Be Obtainable From the Stygian Onslaught Endgame Mode
In the above footage shared on X by @GenshinUniverse, fans can see the various weapon skins for each weapon type in Genshin Impact: Sword, Claymore, Polearm, Catalyst, and Bow. Players will be able to equip them to their existing weapons to change their appearances. These skins will also change colors depending on the element of their wielder. For example, the Sword skin will radiate a red aura when equipped to the weapon of a Pyro character like Bennett; however, the glow would change to blue if equipped to the Sword of a Hydro character like Furina.
It is speculated that players will be able to get the weapon skins by participating in the Stygian Onslaught endgame mode, debuting in the 5.7 update. During the v5.7 livestream, the developers shared a preview of this new mode and some of its rewards. However, they did not reveal the rewards for the final stage six of this challenge. Now, leaks suggest that weapon skins would be the prize for it.
According to information shared by @AboutNodKrai on X, weapon skins would be available to players in two rarities: 5-star and 4-star. If Travelers can complete the Stygian Onslaught challenge at difficulty six within 180 seconds, they will receive the 5-star weapon skins. However, if they fail to do so within the time limit but still complete the stage, they will obtain the 4-star weapon skin.
The leaks suggest that weapon skins of both rarities will appear the same. However, the 5-star skins would include some special effects that set them apart from the 4-star ones. It is important to note that this information is based on leaks and subject to change.

Furthermore, each weapon skins or phantasms was borne by the Five Sinners of Khaenri’ah in the past and referred to by other names. Let’s look at the connection between the Sinners and the weapon types:
- Sword skin (Serpent’s Devourer): Called ‘Logsem’ and borne by Rhinedottir (Gold)
- Claymore skin (Herret): Called ‘Sodagusser’ and borne by Hroptatyr (The Wise)
- Polearm skin (Shattered Moon): Called ‘Vanstugger’ and borne by Rerir (Racher of Solnari)
- Catalyst skin (Scared Bindings): Called ‘Gleipnir’ and borne by Vedrfolnir (The Visionary)
